Her iffy appy that had me so worried last night is a thing of the past! *anti jinx*
Now work your juice and give me a lower PMPS when I get home, Noodle!

Pink and flat...
This was her 6th cycle at 1u since the BCS, should I increase to 1.25u tonight or wait two more cycles?

Can't stall much longer.. looking at her SS, she responded to the 1U after 4 doses. If I need to increase, I can do it tomorrow morning and definitely monitor the 4th cycle. I can't if I dosecrease tonight. I'll do it tomorrow morning or later if necessary.

@Christi & Noodle Sweet name for a couple of sweet kitties. :kiss:
Hey, the other Noodle is a BOY?! Mom... do I have a BOY'S NAME?!

:cool::cool::cool:
Glad I stuck with the 1U tonight! Let's see where it takes us... I'm pretty beat now, but I'll set an alarm for +7 to make sure she's ok. I'm not too worried since she's having her late night LC snack now.

This is cycle 6 after my BCS 2/28 - come on Noodle! Dosecrease threat is on the table!
Hi Patricia & Noodle,
I'm a little late picking up this thread but noticed that your Noodle and my Noodle have quite a bit in common (hepatic lipidosis and ketosis). I have a question maybe you could help me with, and I don't believe I've ever seen this issue on the forum. Your signature said your Noodle had non-acidotic ketosis. My Noodle has had 3 episodes of DKA over the past year so when he developed small ketones a few months ago, I rushed him off to the vet even though he was eating and drinking and acting fine. When they ran his bloodwork all his electrolytes, pH, etc. were perfect, indicating it wasn't ketoacidosis. Is this similar to your Noodle's situation? Does she just show ketones but not become acidotic? If you don't mind telling me your Noodle's experience with ketosis I'd be so grateful. This has been somewhat confusing for me, the ketosis vs. ketoacidosis question. Thanks a bunch :-)

When my Noodle was DXed she was very sick and her ketone levels were quite high. All of her bloodwork was pretty terrible at the time (liver, electrolytes, etc), the only thing keeping it from being true DKA if I'm remembering properly is that her blood PH was not quite acidic. The vets still referred to it as DKA half the time and treated her as such. The way I interpreted it was that the ketones had not been present long enough to become acidic, though they had to treat very aggressively to save her and stop that progression (maybe... it's all a blur still). It seemed that since she had quite high levels of ketones the treatment was essentially the same as DKA, but maybe her prognosis would have been better at the time had she not been facing FHL? I don't know that for sure, though. We were all just so glad she pulled through that I never asked for more clarification. I have it in my signature that way because her release paperwork days Diabetic Ketosis rather than DKA.

She has a checkup Monday with her regular vet who's studied all her bloodwork, I'll see if she has any insight re: ketosis vs ketoacidosis.

Your story sounds practically identical to mine, except that my Noodle also was found to have pancreatitis in one lobe in addition to the HL, chronic IBD and FD. He almost didn't survive and it took weeks of sub-q fluids and hand-feeding him every morsel of food (after he had been in ICU at the vet for several days.) The vet told us about two months after Noodle's crisis that he really didn't expect him to survive. He's been on insulin for 8 months and not regulated yet, although he has mostly yellows so we hope we'll eventually get there. He was re-tested again last month and found to have chronic low-grade pancreatitis so he will be hard to get/keep in good numbers. Thanks so much for answering my questions and I hope Noodle has a good report from her vet. If you get any additional insights on the ketosis/ketoacidosis question, I'd be so grateful for any more information. Hugs to Noodle :cat:
