Good morning, Ivy seems to be feeling much, much better each day. Eating well and pooping is back to "normal". Hooray!:cat:

The only remaining meds she's still on is Cerenia 12 mg and 1 capsule of Jarrows S Boulardi w/MOS.

I am wondering if we should keep a small dose of Cerenia as an anti-inflammatory in her system. I would love to NEVER go through pancreatitis again!!

I know several other cats here are on a maintenance dose of Cerenia, which seems to help. Thoughts?

We've had a lower BG start to today and have given some carbs to get her to surf.:woot:

Hoping for a very BORING day with a mani-pedi thrown in for good measure, she's due!

Have a safe day, everyone :cat:

Love this update Staci, soooo glad she’s eating better.

And look at her go on a whole unit less of insulin. I wonder if the episode and BG numbers are related somehow?

There seems to be some correlation, Tim. Everything is so interconnected and both things connected with the pancreas.

I am just so thankful the Libre lets me know what's going on (and others here would know by testing their cat.)

It scares me to think about cats who never get tested, their owners would never have an idea what is going on and that would be so dangerous for a kitty going through all of this.

Great update :)

I’d try tapering cerenia. Try every other day and see if she continues to feel great. With my cats if tapering worked I stopped all meds. I’m not sure if cerenia under dosed would do much. Maybe someone else knows. Love the improvement.

Ivy is so lucky to have you looking after her with such diligence and care, Staci. May you never have to deal with pancreatitis again!
Thank you, Helen! I sure hope never again. I wish there was a way to keep it from recurring!!
I hope none of us have to deal with it. Very scary!!

Thank you, Elise. I would love to know if a small dose would keep away another round of that awful condition!

I'm so thankful she's feeling much better!!

I would say you could certainly continue the Cerenia if its helping. I have found from mine and others experiences in my group that if you skip a day every so often or even try doing e/o day, that it has a tendency to work better. There used to be instructions with Cerenia to give it 5 days on and 2 off, but they revised it some point and said it was ok to give continually until symptoms resolve. The problem with pancreatitis is that if its chronic, it doesnt go away and the cat could get flares every so often. Some cats need to be on constant meds or they just keep getting flares. Chronic Pancreatitis is a permanent chronic condition and could get worse with each flare as they cause permanent scarring to the pancreas.

This was the first time. She seems to have recovered so I just don’t know if she still needs that Cerenia.
How do I know if she still needs it? And is it chronic, how do I know that?
Thanks, Jo.

How do I find your group, Jo?

Hi Staci, hallelujah her poop is back to normal.
She had a nice cycle today
Hearing she's feeling much better each day makes me so happy for both of you. I hope she surf's safely tonight :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
