SS numbers PM+3 on 3/2 forward are taken using my TrueResult because I ran out of ReliOn strips and when I went to use the Arkray strips that I thought were compatible, they were not (and I bought 5 boxes of them)! I ordered the matching Arkray glucometer (Vital) last night. I am adding 20% to whatever numbers I get with the TrueResult over 150 readings because, with comparisons to my ReliOn, it seems to run about 20% lower on values over 150. As soon as I get the new glucometer, I will note same on SS (although I may get a box of Prime strips in the interim and will note that as well, if I do so).

The strips are the "Vital" and I found out they are compatible with the ReliOn Confirm (I was using the Prime).

Labs - I just got Gobbles' lab results taken 2/26 in the mail yesterday (Antech). I will add all numbers to his SS today. Below are the tests that have "high" results. Comments?

ALT 127 (Range 10-100)
Cholesterol 260 (Range 75-220)
Neutrophils 9779 77% (Range 2500-8500)

Urinalysis:
Protein Trace (High) (Range Negative)
Glucose Trace (High) (Range Negative)

It looks like Neutrophils 9779 77% (Range 25500-8500) are within range. Is this a typo?

Yes, it's a typo. I fixed it above. The range for the one is actually 2500-8500..... Should I be concerned? Marje had mentioned in a previous post that "Elevated ALT typically indicates some kind of liver cell destruction" and had mentioned getting Demararin for liver support...

With only one liver value above range I wouldn't be concerned especially if your vet said the blood work was good. ALT values can be an artifact if blood cells were damaged during the process of running the lab test.

Elevated neutrophils are often an indicator of some sort of infection.

Obviously, if you need more info, check with your vet. Having only a handful of values to look at doesn't tell the big picture.

He said he wanted to run labwork again in 2 months; I had suggested one month. I have a sheet for "labs" in Gobbles SS and am going to enter the numbers, tests, etc. sometime today...thanks Sienne!

Because he's had more than one elevated ALT, I still think it is wise to keep an eye on it. Glad he's rerunning the bw in 2 months.

I'm going to call there tomorrow and see if he recommends Demaranin and to get January bw....

Help please -- Gobbles dropped to 45 when I checked him 10 minutes ago at +8. I gave him 1 heaping T. Friskies 14 % + 1 cat treat. ~~Should I give karo???~~

check him 15-20min after you fed him. If no rise, give some Karo. I assume he's acting normal?

ETA if he is acting normal, break out the HC. Squeezing gravy gunk out of food and feeding the glop is particularly good. Never had to resort to Karo myself.

I've only given karo once myself and that was way back before I joined this board.

I would give him some high carb gravy like MJ said and test in 15 to 20 minutes.

The highest HC I have is 20% -- ok?

if there's gravy, squeeze it out and feed him that. If you want to add some Karo to it, you can. But I'd try the gravy first.

Keep giving gravy glop and testing every 20-30 min.
