Yesterday's condo: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7941

Well last night he seemed pretty good, as always he is quite ancy for food, but i think he is trying to play me. He always sleeps outsie my bedroom so as soon as i get up in the morning, he can follow me and let me know he wants food right away.. lol.. I swear its his life goal to someday make me trip and fall on my face. Anyway, WCR= same as ever morning, annoyed by test and shoot, just wants food.

I am happy with his number this morning, but it was taken about 45 minutes ahead of schedule, so im thinking it may have been up around 300ish if i'd have waited until 6:30. He got his shot only about 30 minutes early. Im excited to see where he goes today with this. I was hoping for liberal leave, so I could stay home, but no such luck...

LOL he hasn't successfully tripped you yet? Mine get me every morning.

Errr your ss is behind - I fixed it.

Have a lovely day!

Check your email lady.. I responded about Leo's ss. What so you think about his AMPS? Time for dosecrease yet?? I cant view his spreadsheet so i dont know yet..

OK I just had to let you know I haha_smiley at your statement that you think he's trying to play you.

haha_smiley Of course he is! you just need to learn new counter tactics to play him right back!

Glad to hear you are happy with his numbers and that he's doing well today.
Just a couple more cycles and then you could move along.
There are some kitties who wait till that last cycle to decide they will respond!
Milo may be a tricky one and trying to pull a fast one on you ;-)

lol.. yes i do believe your right.. His numbers have not been cooperating with my plan, and have been keeping us on our toes.. :YMSIGH: I definately need a new tactic to play him back..lol.. :-D

"Plan" she says

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Interesting...and thank goodness they're not stuck in the pink  Dang sure looks like he's fixin' to do something doesn't it?

Yes, well, awful close. I can get a +4, lets see what happens. OH, and I did the shot in the flank, he was not happy about that.. cat(2)_steam

Just wondering, why the flank shot? I know some shoot the flank, but how many kitties like it? I bet none of them. Why not the scruff?

And getting back to your plan haha_smiley please go directly to the nearest window, open it up, and toss out every single plan you have.

There is only ONE plan, and it's Milo's plan.
The sooner you accept that fact, the better off you will be.
haha_smiley

Ya I was joking about the plan. Obviously I have no plan but to continue to be aggressive until we can get him regulated. I do normally shoot him in the scruff, or shoulder area, i was testing his response and if he absorbs it differently. There is possibly different absorption depending on where we shoot, but ECID. I know what works, but was testing to see if there was a better way. No written rule about shooting in the scruff, actually some may argue that there is better absorption on the lateral area. I guess ECID... :-D

I am trying to recall what was said about shot location, but it seems that shots around the scruff are slower and maybe more gradual, and the flank is quicker, almost like what you would expect from R.

From there, I think I would want to go with slow and gradual so there would be less bounce.
From the short time I've given some R, it's like a quick pull down to a lower number in the first hour or so, then it's gone like a flash. The Lantus takes over from there, nice and slow and smooth.

If I think about using the two, R and L, I think I would want the L to kick in after the R is done its job. If you use the flank, the L may start acting along with the R, but I don't even know if that would be a bad thing or not!

I could easily be way off in how I am thinking, but I am positive that someone will come along and correct my logic.

Yes, it seems that we are both going through the same thing, but I still don't get any IGF-1 results till Friday.

I don't know about Milo but Shadoe is fine with getting her shots in the scruff. I give her the R in the center, then I split her 12u half on the left side, and half on the right.
With extra shots being given, I think Milo may rebel if he does not like those flank shots.

Good luck with the dose crease, and I hope you get good results with the R.

The theory behind flank shots is more use of more insulin.. I don't know about necessarily faster. You're still going to have roughly the same onset no matter the location, in my opinion. Jen is actually testing out the theory we were discussing in Caryl's condo earlier today. She has non-moving numbers so she started splitting locations yesterday and today moved to flank to compare absorption. Pretty cool experiment huh :D

Now this is an experiment I can follow! I can totally relate to stubborn, unmoving numbers!

I tried on the flank awhile back and Shadoe vetoed any more of that.
She just has no sag, so it was too hard.
What's the good reason for splitting the higher doses again in different locations?

You guys know the kitties are gonna catch on to your experiment and throw it off, just for giggles huh?

Just Jen doing the experiment?

Splitting doses is to help the body use the insulin better. Instead of shooting a big pocket of it in one location, you can give it the opportunity to start working from two areas of the body at the same time.. and so all the insulin gets a chance to be used. The theory was what if that giant amount of insulin wasn't fully absorbed? So split dosing evolved. Like I do two shots, and saw a major improvement. Lorna found 3 works better for GirlCat. I tried 3 and it was an epic fail on Leo, and two shots didn't work so well for GirlCat. There's also the long needle vs short needle controversy. Some people think long needles are better at delivering high doses. I find absolutely no difference whatsoever, but other people find vast differences with their cats. ECID, see? So it's all just experiments, we do all sorts of things but we will share them with you when you get up in dosing ;-)
