Trix gave us a perfect flat low-blue surf last night! Just a wee bit of a spike this morning...hopefully she'll turn back around.

She did a little bit of foamy spit up when we very first got up...I barely had my eyes open. She has done this before on occasion, but it has been a while. I know this is a tummy acid thing and part of the CKD dance, so I will be keeping a very, very close eye, report it to the vetty if it becomes a regular thing and if it does become regular, I'm sure we'll be adding pepcid to the mix. She loves her pill pockets, so I'm sure she won't object! Needless to say, it rattled me a bit this morning...

She also seems to be tiring of her beloved PLC a little. We're still CPCing, but she's also starting "browse around" again to see what the kibbleheads are up to. I can't blame her for getting tired of eating the same thing all the time. So I'm going to get a couple other flavors for her to try out. I know she doesn't like the Frick a Zee or the Steak Frites, but I think she didn't object to Fowl Bowl. I'm also going to get another flavor or two of the BFF so I can mix and match and hopefully give her enough variety to keep her interested.

Yesterday's errands killed my day off! Among other things, I had "issues" with getting the new Lantus coupon to go through with Trix's new script. The pharmacist called the fine folks at Solostar and managed to pull it of, but the fine folks at Solostar also wanted to talk to ME (I have yet to call them). So far, they have not found out that Trix is a cat, but I used a different birthdate from what I used last time. I honestly don't remember which birthdate I used either time since I just ballparked it to make her 18...they did not like the mismatched dates. Sooooo...I have picked one date and hopefully they won't catch on to what we're doing here. If they do, oh well..at least we got SOME at $25 each.

I like a flat, blue kitty! Hoping the +2.5 is just a food spike.
You are lucky that Trixie likes the pill pockets, are they the duck ones? Do you just wrap them around the pill? I have tried the duck with no luck (LOL - that rhymes), but Cleo looks at it like I am trying to feed her plastic.
I only have one pen left on the $25 coupon. Did you also change the patient name, or just the date of birth? My favorite pharmacist has left the Target I use, and I don't know if the new ones will be as helpful. But I will try - It is so worth it!!

I think you have tried the Ziwipeak, but I am throwing it out there. The lamb is lowest phos, I believe, and everyone will eat it here, but only with toppings.

Nice start for Trixie today. I hope that the foamy vomit was just one of those things. And I hope that she will continue to enjoy PLC. Maybe if you don't feed it for a few days she will love it again when you resume feeding it.
Wow on the Lantus pen story. Is the prescription in Trixie's name? She has to be 18 to get it? What about people who have juvenile diabetics in their care? When I have filled an insulin prescription here in NY State, the RX has "Feline" as the patient's "middle" name. I'm not sure if this is a state law. I just learned that Levemir has a pen promotion also. I may try it and see what happens. (But I am very lucky to be able to get Rusty's Lev. from Canada.)

I am pleased that she turned it around and is holding a nice steady safe surf!

I do use the non-diabetic friendly chicken PPs. The dog duck ones were a "fail" with my GA civvie Mario a few years ago, so I haven't tried them again. I figure it's such a teeny tiny bit that it really won't have much impact on her BGs...it's more important to easily get that pill in her. I also just use a teeny pinch of the PP - just enough to cover the pill so we don't run the risk of her flicking the pill out from chewing the whole big chewy PP. I think she likes the PPs without any "ehancement", but I know how much she LUVS FortiFlora, so I roll the PP in FortiFlora for good measure. Then, I let her lick the spoon I use for the rolling since it has some extra FortiFlora dust...it is the cutest thing ever. I use it as her post-shot treat. I told DH we have to get a video of it sometime....it's just so stinkin' cute.

I used Trixie's realy name both times. My vet also uses "cat" has her middle name; however, since I fill out the form myself online for the coupon, I never have to admit that's she's a cat. My bad for not remembering what I used as a date the first time. I wasn't even sure if I would be able to use as econd coupon, but apparently we can .... if we remember the birthdate we used the first time ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile . I'm sure her name has to match the name on the script. I remember many people here saying that the beneficiary has to be 18 years of age, which is why I defaulted to that. It's definitley worth trying....worst thing that can happen is that they say "no!"

Forgetting the birthdate you used is so much like something I would do! Don't you know the first rule about fibbing is to be sure to remember what you said so you can repeat it? :lol:

Looks like Trixie has another low blue run going. Maybe she's headed for the lagoon? Surf it, Trixie!

Hi Amy! I'm glad Trixie turned around and is heading down again. Give mama bean a nice surf, Trixie, and dip your toes in the lagoon maybe?

I hate it when they throw up :sad: . Before pepcid I was using slippery elm bark and it seemed to help the upset tummy, until we progressed and needed more. I hope you can find some more flavors for Trixie that she will CPC! It seems all I think about lately is cat food :lol: . Chyna has not wanted her pill pockets the last few days so I've had to roll them in fortiflora instead of purebites crumbs :roll:

I hope you can straighten out the coupon, it's nice that your pharmacist is on board with helping you. It's too bad that savings don't exist for cats, it seems stupid, you're still buying and needing the product! But I am also one who thinks of cats as family, like all of LL and unlike those non cat lovers :o ;-)

I hope you can get the video, I just can't get enough of cute kitty pics and videos! Have a great Caturday :-D

Good luck with the food. I hope Trixie continues to like it. Mannie ate the same food day in and day out for close to five years. Sheshhh, too funny. The last few months were trying though when he started to get sick, as I was then changing thee out all the time, looking for something he liked. Some days I had 6/7/8 cans on the counter,. Don't go there Trixie, K'? I hope Trixie will like the other flavors that the PLC folks offer.

Classic Zener slide into the lagoon for Trix...she is going for these late dips again. I hope we're not in for a super-busy night. DH is swimming in a meet tomorrow, but at least I'm off tomorrow, so if she does decide on a PJ party, I'm BIC....

i put weird things like the birthdate into my phone . . . perhaps that will help you. under the contact info, i just put it in one of the cells that i'm not using, although i might even have a birthday cell, i'm not sure.

here's hoping you don't have a pj party tonight!
 
Yes!! Back in green!!!!

If you don't want to use Pepcid, you can also try slippery elm syrup. I used it for a very long with with Gus before I eventually had to use pepcid.
