Yesterday's Fiasco

In the immortal words of Charlie Brown: "ARGH!!" I swear, I was so careful, made sure the needle was in all the way before I pushed the plunger. For a split second I was so proud of myself. Then I smelled the insulin.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: How could I do this again???? Epic failure as BIC. I'm sorry, Cinco. You did such a good job recovering last night and now I've put you in a hole again. Sweet boy acted all morning as if he was green - great appy, more energy than usual, talkative, wanted lots of scritches. Thank goodness kitties are so forgiving.

Minka again didn't eat this morning. Even after tummy meds, Minka turned down everything I offered. Finally, around 2 pm I syringed about 12 cc. Then she ate a little Max Cat Duck. Fluids were late, due to the race (which I could have just skipped since my driver crashed half way through :(). If she doesn't eat dinner, there will be at least one more syringe session. I may also give her some Cypro, which I haven't done yet today.

Sasha really wasn't interested in breakfast, either. After several failed attempts to get her to eat, I gave her some Cerenia. An hour or so later she came downstairs, like she was looking for food, but nothing I offered seem to appeal. I went upstairs with some Max Cat for her and discovered that she had thrown up at some point. She did eat some Max Cat then. I'm going to take up the baby food treat next.

Poor Harvey. When I was trying to get Minka to eat and dishing up all kinds of fuds, he and Minka were in the kitchen, under foot. I dropped a dish (empty) right on his head! It was a plastic dish and didn't hurt, but it startled him. I immediately started petting him and making a fuss over him, hoping to avert disaster, but as usually happens when he is startled and Minka is nearby, he attacked her! I was able to get her away from him and shut her in Mark's office for a couple of hours (her safe room). By the time I let her out, he had calmed down.

In other words, it just hasn't been a very good day. :( I haven't gotten half the projects done that I planned to while DH was gone. I guess I'd better get a move on now if I want to do anything more today.

Thanks to everyone that visited yesterday's condo this morning. @carfurby, I do have a vaporizer. I was running both that and my big clothes steamer yesterday for Sasha. We do it in the bathroom because it's a small space that will fill up with steam fairly quickly. I couldn't use the shower because the tub is still full of water from our previous session (one of my projects is to bail it out and water my plants outside). I've found it doesn't do much good to set the vaporizer up in Sasha's favorite room, as that is our bedroom. It's a fairly large room and has cathedral ceilings, so the vaporizer doesn't make much difference.

@Wendy&Neko, yes, Sasha has allergies and this is the time of year they usually kick into high gear. Poor little bugger still sounds awful. I know the vet won't do anything more than tell me to do what I'm already doing. I just hate hearing her breathe like that.

Sending healing vines to all in need, especially Scooter, DoLou, Tess and Doodle, and hugs to all their beans, especially Linda, Lisa, Ann & John and Jennifer. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Lisa's DF, Marje's DM and Elise's DM.

Big hug to you, Tricia! :bighug::bighug:
Sorry you are having a difficult day.

Sending good appy vines to Sasha and Harvey.

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough day. Fur shots usually happen in pairs for me too. Cinco will get back on track. Poor Harvey and poor Minka. Sending appy vines for Sasha and Minka. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((Tricia)))) I've said it before, you are an amazing bean- sending all the positive vines for eating and feeling better for your girls. Sweet Cinco, our kitties never know if their BG is 100 or 300, they love us just the same don't they? :bighug::bighug::bighug:i hope you are sitting down to dinner with a glass of wine tonight- you deserve it!

Thank goodness kitties are so forgiving.

And we can learn a lot from them. Hint. Hint. Hint.

Cinco will be fine. (I did a whole slew of fur shots on week. Polly got over it. In time, I did, too.)

Girls, help the mama. Eat. Maybe even dig into the first offering. Please.

Tricia. You are amazing. Simply amazing.

Have an adult beverage. Or two.

Stinky race today, even if I couldn't watch. Don't have much of a satellite package!

Marilyn and Polly

Wow Tricia...you've really had a bummer of a day!! Sending lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Furshots are all part of the dance....they always recover and so will Cinco! He's been doing awesome lately, so just concentrate on how good he's been doing! One day isn't the whole journey!

Come on little girls...eat yer fuds! They really are good for you and you'll make your mamabean smile!!

LOL on Harvey....not the "beating up on Minka" part of course, but I have this picture of a bowl of cat food landing upside down on a kitty head and it's a good giggle.

OK now Cinco....China's on her way to the deep end...Hope you can head out there and get her to come into shallower waters!!

Appy vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug: As said by others you are amazing! I'm thankful I didn't realize Max was ill or maybe it didn't happen until dear Tiffany was gone. Even dealing with two would have been a challenge but 3 with issues! Yep, amazing bean. Definitely a 2 adult beverage night!

Thanks for the visits and the encouragement, Mariko, Amy, Carla, Ruth, Marilyn, Chris and Elise. You guys make me blush.

Actually, Elise, I have four with issues! And some days they all rear their heads at the same time! o_O

Minka didn't eat much else this afternoon, so I gave her some Cypro right before dinner. About a half hour later she ate a little of her dinner - the Purina NF!! :) I'll keep offering it to her for a while before I try another flavor. I doubt the Cypro has really kicked in yet.

Sasha was eating her dinner when I left the room. Must get back up there to check on her.

Harvey, of course, cleaned his plate. And ate seconds.

I felt pretty good about tonight's shot, and best of all, NO LANTUS SMELL! Paws crossed, everyone!!! At least Cinco kept it out of the stinky pinkies for me!

I got about 1/4 of the water out of the bathtub. It was actually from two steam sessions, so it was full almost to the top, and it's a big tub. Got my exercise hauling the bucket up and down the stairs! Everything in containers in the front and back got watered. Tomorrow I'll try to do the fruit trees.

I'm right on top of the adult beverage recommendations, but I do still have to do fluids tonight, so I can't get too carried away! Then there's getting up tomorrow for my final attempt (this week) at an AMPS! Please wish me luck everyone. Third time's a charm? ;)

Chris! Actually, last year when we had to do this for Sasha, Mark tried to come up with a system to pump the water out the window and down a pipe so I could just put a bucket under it and fill it up. Didn't work.

Cut hole in bucket the size of water pipe. Glue bucket to water pipe. Attach water pipe to side of house with bucket at window height. Place second bucket at bottom of pipe.

Dump water into bucket A...collect in bucket B

Necessity is the mother of invention....LOL

Oops. I forgot. So sorry. I guess when I read how well he eats it makes me forget. That and senior moments.

Hi Tricia! So sorry you had a crazy day. Harvey reminds me of Brooklyn sometimes...I accidentally stepped on her tail the other day, and she responded by attacking poor Billie. I wonder if Flovent with the Aerokat inhaler would help Sasha's congestion? It is an anti-inflammatory. Billie's asthma is allergic asthma and the inhaler has been wonderful for her. Just a thought. If you're ever interested, feel free to message me. Flovent is crazy expensive so I order Flixotide (same drug, different name) from inhousepharmacy.vu. Sending lots of appy vines to all the kitties!

That's okay, Elise. A week or so ago I totally forgot about the existence of one of Any's Civvies (sorry, Petey). We each have so much on our plate, it's hard to keep track of everyone's stories. I appreciate your support and advice.

Thanks, Deanna. I just sent you a PM.

Soooo, looks like I got the jus in the cat this time! YAY!! Don't know if he'll be able to join China in the lagoon tonight, but he can cheer her on from the shore! :)

Yeah for getting the insulin in! I've done that cheer here too. Darn fur shots come in multiples here. But the cats do recover faster than us.

Adding to the chorus of "amazing woman Tricia".

What a day! On the plus side tomorrow has to be better, doesn't it...

C'mon kitties lets surprise da bean with voracious appetites for breffis (not you Harvey your regular appy is voracious enough!)
