Good Morning everyone, Ravan's bg has gone up significantly ! Maybe I should have given a full dose of 1 unit of insulin ?. I reduced it to .75 . I was concerned it would drop during the night. (he did a Huge drop before)

I read The SLGS Sheet & they advise,Above 200 but below the normal pre-shot value, a reduced dose might be wise. So I decided to follow that advice & reduce his insulin.

I'm going to give him his shot now & keep it at 1 unit.

Hi Bobby,I didn't plan on staying up. Ravan woke we when he was hungry & I felt it was a good time to test as long as i was up!

I don't see a regular pattern in Ravan's highs & lows? Mostly it looks low between +7 and +9 His body doesn't seem to react in a regular pattern with insulin?

I've been thinking. If i was in a Hospital & EVERY DAY ,every 2 to 3 hrs ,someone came in & stuck me with a needle, I would NOT tolerate it for very long! I have been in Hospital & so were my kids & I did speak up when I felt ENOUGH!

Stabbing his ear so frequently is very stressful for me & for Ravan As I said before Every person & animal reacts differently. A lot of People feel Oh my doctor knows best & they do whatever he or she tells them. I on the other hand QUESTION everything!

My visit (without Ravan ) to my Vet was to ask a LOT of Questions. Nearly all the people I know over 45 take some type of Meds.most take several . I don't take any. I've had health problems but I choose to try 1st to correct them without pills. So far it's been working. In the future it may not.

If anyone can look at Ravan's spreadsheet & see a pattern Or anything else I'm missing I'd appreciate that info.

Thank you.

@JoyBee people here will try very hard to help but you need to be willing to meet them half way. That includes doing enough testing to see what a dose is doing and it can mean more poking than you like to do when things aren't clear with respect to dosing. The 1 u dose seemed to be getting you somewhere and as others have said Lantus works best with consistent dosing. I know you are very afraid of him dropping too low (and that means below 5o) but you have no evidence on your spreadsheet that he'll do that on a 1 u dose - and I'm looking at those dark greens when I say that.

I imagine you felt that your post last evening was ignored. This is a large busy forum and a post can quickly drop lower in the thread list and be missed. It's also true that people have given advice several times about what to do and want to see that it's been followed so they can assess the outcome.

I see that you've used the Lantus thread title format. :) Because members are all over the world it's easier for people to understand if you give the times as hours after the injection - eg. +1.5, +4, +9, etc.
