Switching from Prozinc to Lantus. Just got the Lantus today. Will be doing SLGS since I work 4 12 hour nights every week outside the home. Husband works 4 or 5 12 hour days in the same plant random days never the same days off. These are random nights although atm I seem to be on a Thursday through Sunday schedule for the last 5 weeks. Can't be home to test on those nights. Husband does not test. Will start Lantus tomorrow morning. Thinking 2 units.?

Have linked my old Prozinc thread to this one.

Hello and welcome. Sorry no one got back to you earlier. You can keep on using the same spreadsheet, just leave a blank line between the day you last use Prozinc and start Lantus. Write something like "starting Lantus" on that line.

I see by your subject line you are feeding a bit of dry (thanks for having that info). That's a second reason for using SLGS for dosing. Maybe put SLGS in your signature too, once you've started the Lantus.

I think the 2.0 units is as good a starting place as any. Hopefully you can start when you've got a couple days you and DH can monitor closely. You may or may not see much action the first few days as the depot has to build. But some cats react to an insulin change. It's all up to Teal, he's in charge. :cat:

Sorry will change that dry thing stopped giving him the Dr Elsey's because it seemed his need for insulin kept increasing so Deb suggested I not give it to him. Will change that in my signature.

Was going to start tomorrow but since I have to work will wait for Monday have 3 days in a row off.

I've been reading all the stickies and do understand that it takes a bit to build the depot so am prepared for that. Thank you for responding.
