Hi Everyone, Happy Caturday!

Rusty had a good night and ate most of his nighttime food. This morning he ate most of his breakfast. This is good because with pancreatitis he has to eat. We had a good schmooze this morning. Snow is still falling, with temps in the teens. I wonder if Spring will come this year, or if we will go right into blackfly season!

Rusty's Auntie Linda (Bear Man) has been helping me interpret the findings of the IM vet. She is such a great friend!

Off now to do some shopping. I am feeling better and better, and, although I don't think I'll be climbing any mountains in this weather, I want to get out to walk as soon as the roads are a bit better. In the meantime I'm struggling with Tai Chi. It is tough for a beginner, even though it looks easy! Tonight the "film society" is coming over for a showing of Werner Herzog's "The Cave of Forgotten Dreams". This is one I really look forward to seeing. This weekend is "Maple Sugaring Weekend" all over the North Country. We may go over to the Paul Smiths VIC tomorrow to join the festivities.

Nice drop into green for the Lagoonmeister! I read back through the last few days to see what happened at the vet (I was out of town for work the latter part of the week). It will be interesting to see what his specfPL is now. It's also interesting to me that specialists can't decide how diabetes affects the liver, or in some cases, if it does. I've heard some IM specialists say it does not. There are also some preliminary articles written, with small sample sizes, saying it does. I think it ultimately comes down to the specialist and what their opinion is and I do not think it is necessarily a matter of science or medicine. However, it always makes me question them, including our own IM specialist, when they make other recommendations like your specialist did. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt on the BG because they likely do not have a lot of FD patients and certainly not ones that hometest like we do so they are shooting for numbers that will likely keep them out of hypoglycemia but that just tells me they really don't understand FD....including our IM specialist. So we do the best we can.

I hope you are much, much better, Ella. I am worried about your fall. I'm glad your leg is feeling better but I always worry about head bumps. Love Tai Chi!!! It is so great for you!!!
 
Nice slide for Rusty today. I'm glad he is eating good for you. Sorry about the pancreatitis, but a least you can treat it. I hope you're feeling better.

His Spec fPL is 7.8 (normal is below 3.5). His Cobalamin--B-12 was high: > 2000 (normal is below 1425, but she said this was nothing to worry about). His folate was normal: 11.3.
With regard to the spec fPL she interpreted the 7.8 as ". . . evidence of chronic pancreatitis. We do not need to make any changes based on this, other than considering prednisolone in the future if the signs become more severe."

Thanks for taking the time to go over my summary of Rusty's examination. I have a few questions to ask you based on the vet's report, especially as it relates to the liver, which was slightly enlarged on the radiograph. But I will hold them until you are less busy. ( I also need to formulate the questions!). I also need to consult with Rusty's regular vet. Linda has already provided me with lots to think about.

Rusty had a good afternoon. He finished almost all of his lunch and had a small +9 snack. He will enjoy the film society this evening.

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better Ella! I admire your perseverance- I found Tai Chi extremely difficult to learn from a DVD- I had to be shown in person so I found classes taught by an amazing 91 year old Chinese Master. I think I really tested his patience :rolleyes: and disturbed his "Chi" LOL! He passed away last year, which was sad, but we all felt blessed to have himin our lives for all those years-none of us have ever forgotten his legacy.

p.s. given Rusty's chronic pancreatitis, I was wondering why there was no script for an anti-nausea med/appy stimulant. He does need to eat, but who wants to eat when they are feeling lousy from a flareup. I keep a constant supply of Cerenia in the house;many others prefer Ondansetron and some have said Slippery Elm Bark helps. I can't use this for Tiger because her Calcium level is on the high side, but you might ask your vet.

I'm glad to hear how well Rusty is doing, in spite of the P-titis flare. It's great that you have someone as experienced as Linda to help you interpret the vet's findings. I feel so dim sometimes when I read the details and try to understand them.

I am with Tricia I feel dim sometimes to however I truly have a great Vet and she never lets me leave with questions. She answers everything and takes calls or text messages as well. She has checked on Scooter twice by text this week. lol

I am glad Mr. Rusty's numbers are better. Sure is tough to figure stuff out sometimes. Thank goodness for Linda! :)

I often think about learning TaiChi and never have maybe this is the year.
