3/28 Moo. OT Vacation question

Hey everyone
Just had a question
My family is planning a trip out of town in may to visit my 90 yr old grandparents. We're all traveling in one car and staying at the retirement home. I have to go because this could be the last time I see them....
What do I do with moo?!?
I can't afford boarding
I have a roommate who is my ex bf but his work shifts can be odd and he is not the best at waking up to an alarm or being good about timing even though he will be living here and moo knows and trusts him.
I have no family near by. And non that like cats anyway.
Just not sure what to do?!??
Any advice or help would be appreciated
 
That is a tough one. The vet techs/nurses at our vet's practice will do shots. We've even had one of them stay at our house. As I recall, when Sienne travels, she has a pet sitter come in to do Gabby's shot and just gives a half dose. The pet sitter doesn't do any testing because Gabby won't let anyone but Sienne give her a poke. Maybe a vet tech or pet sitter could come in when the ex can't give the shot? How long will you be gone?

I hope your ex bf would be sympathetic and know how important this is to you. And make a bit of an extra effort to be
a little more scheduled.... of course, that might be part of why he's the ex.

do you have a college around to find a young person?
do you have time to find someone?
 
Gobbles & I just stopped in to say hello as we haven't been doing enough "visiting" -- lots going on here....we're sending OTJ vines to sugar cats everywhere!
 
Liz is correct. Several of the vet techs from my vet's office do cat sitting on the side. The tech I use is wonderful given Gabby being a complete diva. I reduce Gabby's dose -- how much depends on what her dose is. I also leave a very detailed set of instructions. She's not inexpensive but I also trust her to make sure Gabby is OK.

The other thing you can do is post a note on Health or on the Community boards. There may be a member in your area who would be willing to swap pet sitting services with you or who may have someone they feel is reliable that can come by to test and shoot.
 
Thanks. Yeah I have time. Our trip is end of may. I can ask the ex but it depends on his work schedule plus he's looking for a second job as well so I know he WOULD do it ... If his work schedule allows.
More than likely I'd be better off just having him give the shots and not test so a reduced dose may work.
I will be gone a thurs morn through a Monday. So about 10 shots.
I am not very comfortable with the vet here yet to ask about sitting. Plus theirs the ones who told me not to home test.
Plus with my ex living here that nought be weird having someone in and out like that.
I think there was someone in the Chicago area who was on here just can't remember who.
 
I'm in Carol Stream But if someone can watch in their home, I can drive really anywhere in the burbs.
