HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEVON!!!

Well, shoot. Can't get the little party icons to appear and I don't know the codes! Wishing you a most wonderful birthday... I so appreciate you taking the time to check in on us so often! We're blessed to have you and the crew part of our family!! :-D :-D :-D

Happy, Happy Birthday Devon!!

Devon, thank you for all your support and encouragement with Maggie and me. Maggie says you and Mocha are the bestest!

birthday wishes from me too! you are so good about encouraging everyone every day! i hope your DQ cake is puurrrrfect! :-D

thanks for starting a Loose Lips, christie! it helps those folks who are trying to answer all the questions when we move the chatter here.

i've just about got another quilt top done and ready to be quilted - i think i'll take it to a woman who quilts as a business to be finished because her machine has amazing abilities and they turn out so wonderfully.

Happy Birthday to you! Rupert has this to say:

Happy Birthday Devon! party_cat

Thanks for sticking around and taking the time to encourage so many people in LL...it is priceless and very much appreciated! :-D

I hope you enjoy your day!

Thank you everyone! I love stopping in everyone's condo, seeing how all the kitties are doing! It always meant so much to us when we had visitors in mocha's condo ..

Julie, I hope you post a photo of your finished quilt!

this is the one i'm working on right now. crazy bright batiks - doesn't go with anything but i thought the fabrics were cheerful. got it pressed and spread it out on my bed, but now i'm thinking if i added one more border it would be big enough to cover a queen sized bed if i wanted.

i started it last fall, i think, and punkin went with me on a quilting retreat to the beach and "helped." somewhere i have a pic with him sitting in the middle of it. his orange coat goes nicely with the crazy colors!

Thanks everyone!

Julie, that quilt looks so nice! I love the colors .. I've never gotten into quilting myself, but my friend and her mom do it off and on .. as a bridal shower gift, she asked peter's mom for his school year pictures and then asked my mom for mine .. together they created a quilt with all of our school pictures on it! It was so thoughtful of her .. I wish I had somewhere to display it .. it sits in our closet

that sounds wonderful devon! you should just bring it out and put it on your sofa to snuggle in. i'm not a fan of keeping quilts "for good" - i have a whole houseful of stuff my mom kept "for good." i have her wedding presents that never got used, and my folks were married for 51 years before my mom died. bring it out and love it up every day!

i didn't get into quilting til i was in my 30's. you've got plenty of time left on the planet for a new hobby in your future!

An article in the local paper caught my eye - an anniversary of some type:
http://www.vancouversun.com/health/...+patient+Sheila+Thorn+dies/6347454/story.html

It's the story about the world's longest surviving insulin patient. She was seen as a very young child by Dr. Frederick Banting. An interesting quote:

Thorn noted in her published recollections. "I injected myself with reusable glass and metal syringes and would have to sharpen the needles myself. In fact, I continued to use these same old-fashioned syringes up until about five years ago."

ugh wendy, i'm sure glad we don't have to do that. my dad was a medical assistant in ww2 and he said that same thing - they had to sharpen the needles. he also said they had to learn on each other, and he passed out with the guy who was trying on him. can you imagine? yikes.

Julie, you make such a good point ..

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys! Peter ordered me a custom plate for my car .. CAKER8R .. (cakerator, what I am  )

Man, I'm so glad medicine has come as far as it has .. sharpening needles would not be happening in this house!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday celebration and that it's a truly special day. I so appreciate your sticking around after Mocha joined the legion at the Falls and how you are a source of support for us all.

I don't mean to hijack Devon's Birthday condo....
but I wanted to say this here rather than in BigMac's condo...

You folks make me terribly proud to be a member of this family...

What an awesome group. :YMHUG:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEVON and a GREAT NEW YEAR ahead!!

Rusty thinks a 'cimmamum' birthday cake is in order so that all the kitties can celebrate with you. So if you have time, will you please bake one??!!

We so look forward to and appreciate your visits and your support. Thank you so much for staying an active LLer.

Celi, this isn't just my birthday condo! :-D Although I do appreciate all the birthday wishes!

I would love to bake a cimmamum cake for all the kitties to come and celebrate with me .. but instead, let's send all the kitties over to bigmacs house, to wait for him to get home so they can take care of him! I know he'll love seeing all his friends there ..

Happy Birthday Devon. I hope your day was perfect and that you feel like the special person you are.

Love the custom plates!

Julie that quilt is amazing. My mom had a quilt made for me for Christmas three years ago. I have semi ruined it putting it through the washer and dryer. I wasn't told not to ohmygod_smile It is something I'll treasure. How long did it take you to get good enough to make something like that? Please find the picture of Punkin on it

In case you are interested in the recipe:
CAT LITTER CAKE

On a recent visit to our veterinarian to get shots for our cat I found this receipe on the waiting room bulletin board. After recovering from hysterical laughter-I obtained a copy from the office staff so that my wife could make it, which she refused to do. I took it to work and gave the receipe to a lady at work who loves cats. The pictures below show the results of her work, which looks like S#%* but it's actually quite tasty, so I decided to pass it along.

CAKE INGREDIENTS
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent
SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS"
1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper

Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan, Prepare pudding and chill.
Crumble cookies in small batches in blender. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.
When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.
Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.
Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box.
Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed your day! party_cat

ohmygosh amy, midgie is SO cute! i love her style when she attacks, leaps, flips and turns around to land facing the other way. she's adorable - and obviously loves that game.

here's your video. you click the youtube button on the top right, paste the URL in the middle of the brackets like this
youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnIjLLoo8LQ[/youtube
and then delete everything to the left of the = sign, including the = sign itself. you end up with just this part between the brackets: ]tnIjLLoo8LQ[

and ohmygosh that litter box cake is DISGUSTING!!!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, I had a super day!

I love the kitty videos and cake pictures, how adorable .. and uhm, gross?

I wouldn't let Ru pounce on the screen like Midgie does. Midgie only weighs about 5 lbs. She's all fluff.

Ruby is a gorgeous cat!

Thanks! I hear some people think torties are odd looking, but i think she's awfully pretty. (so does she!) I've always loved the way her markings alternate on her face & chest.
