3/28 I feel like Christmas morning. My Lantus pens came from Marks yesterday!

Yeah for Christmas Morning! How long did it take to arrive?
Only 5 days. I ordered March 22nd, and they arrived March 27th. I did ask they be sent in the styrofoam container, and the package was still chilly when I opened it. I was pretty excited. And then I ask myself, what kind of a person gets excited about insulin pens. Okay, so now I have to figure out how to use them. Onto the stickies for help with that. I also printed off the $10 Lantus coupon so I will give that a try today also if I have time.

Does anyone else get excited and feel rich when they have new lancets, new testing strips, new syringes, lots of food (of all C's, but mostly LC), and now new Lantus? (Getting ready for our trip this weekend and stocking up.) I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing this with many people! LOL

Oh yes! I really get it, Glennie! Happiness is a well stocked FD supply cupboard.

I understand completely... I ordered two cat trees and one came last night, unfortunately I was at work but was knocking on my neighbors door at 8:50 this morning and put it together right away! However I feel so bad for my poor Ham because I don't think it's big enough for him... but my civvie Uno should be quite happy with it. Fingers crossed for the second one being big enough.

You use the pens just like a vial with your syringes.
Just without adding any air like you do the vials? Is it even necessary to add air to the vials? I'm sure there's a reason, and I've been doing it. Just wondering. I haven't looked back at the pen loading video yet, but I seem to remember something about not adding air because of negative pressure or something?

LOL Fun for you that you got the one for Uno up. I would have done the same thing--been over early to pick it up. :) I'll bet you had an audience while you put it together. Hoping with you that the second one is perfect for Ham, and that it comes today while you're home. Now if it was here, the cats that were too big for it would be the ones in it and on it. Sammy (our only male and our biggest) is always trying to fit himself into impossibly small places. Have fun with Uno, Ham, and their new cat trees. :cat::cat::bighug:

You got it. The vials are sealed, as you pull out insulin it slowly creates a vacuum. This is why you have to inject a little air into them to equalize the pressure. The pens have a rubber stopper in them, as you draw insulin out of the pen, a little stopper slowly descends automatically equalizing the pressure. There should never be any air in the pens.

My last order from Mark's I chased down the post man a few blocks over to make sure I got it in the fridge. I love Mark's, such a pleasure to order from them.

Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it. Knowing why will hopefully help me remember which is what.

LOL That's funny you chased the post man down for the Lantus. I completely get it! If I would have known mine was coming, I would have been waiting at the end of the lane or even at the post office. And yes, Mark's has been wonderful to work with. Very professional, nice, understanding, efficient and fast. (And affordable!) :)

I had a hard time at first remembering not to inject air into the pens - but then it is second nature
I'm going to have to talk to myself! LOL Or maybe write myself notes. When I did the overnight curve, I kept telling myself no insulin, just test. Habits, you know. ;):D

Yes!!! It felt just like Christmas to me too when our package arrived :joyful:

Did the cat tree for Ham come and does it fit him? :)
