Hello! Another @-) morning, but it's Friday! BTB tomorrow, hopefully I-) . The sore throat is trying to come back and I'm so pooped. Thanks for visiting us last night, Shelly. So far the day is much less klutzy (anti-jinx) than yesterday: Chyna 3/27

Chyna is giving me a nice mid blue AMPS, I hope she gives me a nice safe curve today with some high lagoon dipping...does that sound good, Chyna? :-D . She seems to be good today, with some forti flora to help along the second half of breffis. Does anyone in Canada buy this cheap somewhere that shipping is decent? I'm going to need another box at some point, the vet was around $35 I think, I don't have the receipt that I can find...

I'm pondering trying the Weruva Steak Frites again. If Chyna isn't allergic to the beef and/or pumpkin, it's an awesome phos  . But it seems to spike BG when I tried it before; it has sweet potato and potato starch. If I pick the potato (and maybe pumpkin out), I'm wondering if I lose nutrients that may have been absorbed by those (like the worm in tequila, lol). I was hoping that would lower carbs and stop spike problems. Anyone want to weigh in on possible loss of stuff needed if I pick out parts? It wouldn't be exclusively fed, I still like the Ziwipeak Lamb, I'm just trying for even lower phos. at least part of the time :? . I'm going to test beef this weekend with an NV beef canned food so pumpkin isn't involved.

Also I got the as fed phosphorus values from Natures Variety instinct cans yesterday too, for the a few of the "newer" (not on Dr.Lisas list) pork, salmon, and limited ingredient duck. So if you’re interested (in mg phos/100kcal) the pork is 154, salmon 153, and LI Duck is 139 so that is great! And Rabbit which I've used and she likes is 232. So I have a can of each on order to try

(Edit: they emailed the rest of the info I asked for, as fed carbs are: pork=7%, rabbit=8%, salmon=5%, LI Duck=10%...so I guess they will have to be for lower BG days but I will try them all anyways, I can always mix them with lower carb/higher phos fuds if she can eat them! If you want the rest protein/fat let me know I can add later)

Ok, time to get my butt in the shower. Happy Friday LL! :-D :-D

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147

I'm not sure if you would lose nutrients by picking stuff out...I doubt you would lose much, though....just a guess. Trix doesn't like beef - I tried the Frites and it was a bust.

I wish I had a good answer about the FortiFlora, too...I get ours on Amazon, but I know shipping to you guys is crazy brutal!

TGIF - I hope you are really able to catch up on some R&R over the weekend.

Have a great day, Rachel!

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147

Thanks for that info Rachel. Cleo used to like the regular NV Duck, but no more. I will try and pick up one of each of these flavors and hope for the best.

Very nice number for Chyna to start the day - Surf safe pretty girl :-D TGIF!!

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175

Nice blue start to the day. Doesn't look like you'll have anything to worry about as you head to tbp, right, Chyna? Let's save the lagoon visit for tonight (but not too deep) or tomorrow and surf pretty blues today.

Have a great Friday, Rachel. I hope the day flies by and you're home relaxing before you know it. Have some hot tea with lemon and honey for that throat! :-D

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175

Thanks Amy, Tricia, and Jane! I added the carbs to my above post, they just emailed me :-D .

Thanks Amy, it's too bad she doesn't like beef, but at least Trix can have the PLC now and she loves it! Shipping is crazy to here sometimes :o .

Thanks Jane, I hope Cleo will like these ones too, it's so hard with our fuds searching! And picky or allergic kitties

Hi Tricia, I'm hoping for a nice slow slide in blues today! She does like to surprise me sometimes. I can't wait for hometime ;-)

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 Got NV phos#s

Thanks, Rachel, for checking out the NV Instinct foods. I have a couple of cans of them, but thought that the addition of some kind of clay (begins with an "m") was weird, so have never tried them on Rusty. Will be interested to hear how Chyna likes them (and how they like her!)

Have a great Friday,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174 NV phos#s

Hey, Rachel, are the phosphorus numbers dry matter or as fed? I think they are pretty high phos from what I have read.

Elise

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174 NV phos#s

Hi Ella, I hope it helps you to have some more values:) Chyna likes the lamb, the duck (which makes her itch I think from the turkey in it) and the rabbit so we will see if she likes the pork or salmon, and if the LI Duck that doesn't have turkey will make her itch :o

Hi Elise, they are the as fed values, and are super low phos! It's mega hard to find non prescription/commercial foods under 200 mg phos/100kcal which is what I was told to aim for, especially without stuff Chyna is allergic to and is grain free, so I am stoked :-D .

AND my Ziwipeak is in at the fuds store, thank goodness as I'm down to one can! I was supplementing the NV lamb (which is a bit higher phosphorus) for the past few days to ration my Ziwipeak. It's the small ones and I got a super price on them and a discount since the lady felt bad for not having them. It's also Friday, so win win for me today ;-). Funny how cat fuds are such a big part of my brain function

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174 NV phos#s

Rachel, NV is a high phos food. Someone posted the actual dry matter figures recently on a yahoo list. Were you given actual numbers or minimum and maximum? I have to go now but will see if I can find them later. All the foods that are high protein, low carb are higher in phos.

Elise

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174 NV phos#s

Nice blues for Chyna today. I hope she gives you a safe surf tonight so you can get some rest. I hope your sore throat gets better soon.

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174 NV phos#s

Hi Elise, I was given the actual numbers for % calories protein/fat/carb and for as fed. I don't know how the DM would be high if the mg phos is so low since the conversions confuse me but I can email her back to ask. I'm on two of the yahoo CKD groups and have Tanyas site to help too. My hands are tied for a lot of this with allergies and availability to me. Her main staple will still have to be Ziwipeak Lamb, and hopefully NV raw lamb if I can work it in. And steak frites if I can too! I hate all this fuds searching, it's irritating :-x . I was just attempting to share what I'd found for the % calories column but I'm still going to try one of each, they're already ordered and maybe will be good for supplementing.

Hi Carla, thanks, I am looking forward to sleep for sure ;-) I just need to go a few more hours to get to the weekend! :-D

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174

That was good for you to post. If I find what I have will post as well. I am still looking for the perfect food too. Both my other cats had CKD and it scares me to be feeding Max such high phos food but I need to get this diabetes under control. Feel better.
Elise

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174

I told Amy once that we'd have to start our own cat food company, I still think it's true  . I wish the prescription foods were lower carb (and didn't have chicken!) so I could at least mix them together with the LC commercial ones for lower phos...I just want all our kitties to be OTJ and CKD free

Re: 3/28 Chyna AMPS 147 +1.5 175 +7 174

Hey Chyna - those blues are lovely, but how about finding those upper greens mama requested? What, you saving it for the weekend? Good girl. cat_pet_icon

I think you should be fine leaving pumpkin in the canned fuds, unless Chyna is allergic to it. I give Neko babyfood squash and it doesn't seem to bother her BG's. And there'll be a bit of vitamins in it too. I'm happy to hear your fuds showed up, and that you are getting a discount. I love my low phosphorus raw fuds, or rather, Neko does.

It's almost the weekend. :-D :-D :-D

Re: 3/28 Chyna PMPS 240 New vial

Hi Wendy, thanks! It IS the weekend, now :-D . I was only thinking of taking the pumpkin out for the possible itchies it causes. And I could be wrong, maybe it doesn't and it was something else (argh). I will most likely pick the potato out and try it again on her ;-) .

I was down to the last little drops of my Lantus vial and was holding out to start the new one on the weekend. SO new vial started tonight. The other one still had greens a few days ago, but you never know and I wanted to be home. We didn't get subqs done last night due to exhaustion so that probably isn't helping her numbers, I want this reducie to hold! As I've noticed, she settles in slowly so I'll wait a little longer

Re: 3/28 Chyna PMPS 240 New vial

Good luck with the new vial!

Yep, we do need to start our own fuds company. I don't know why so many common issues are not addressed by the big manufacturers! Trix USUALLY settles in slowly, too...patience pants are the fashion statement for the weekend. I hope you're looking forward to a good one!!

Re: 3/28 Chyna PMPS 240 New vial +2 208

So now I'm more confused than ever about fuds. Does this mean the NV Instinct foods you got are okay for CKD and FD kitties, or only for FD??? If you're feeding them, Rachel, I assume the are good for CKD. I got some small cans of the ones you listed to today at Petco to try out on my crowd. Still trying to find the right mix to meet everyone's needs and tastes. I feel your pain!

You made it to the weekend! Now if Chyna will just surf some safe numbers so you can get some rest, all will be good. :-D

Re: 3/28 Chyna PMPS 240 New vial +2 208 +4.25 127

Thanks Amy, Dwight, and Trica, for visiting us :-D . We're back in blue on a slide

Amy, I know on the company, I wish I had the money; the patience pants are a bit tight but we will see...she seems to be working this dose tonight so maybe the vial was losing potency?

Dwight, thanks, I hope the reducie goes good too.

Tricia, at least good for FD. I honestly don't understand how the DM would be that high by looking at the low mg phos/100 kcal and NV gave me those numbers for as fed. I will have to contact them again I guess for the dry matter content or try find the formula to figure it out from what they gave me. I know we're to look for ideally under 200 mg (etc) and 1% DM but my current fuds are over both of those. I know there is stuff on Dr Lisas site and Tanyas site on DM but I'm too tierd to even try to understand it right now...and it just makes me grumpy to try understand the correlation. I'm going with giving them a try anyways and I've already ordered a can of each and bought a salmon one in the store, if nothing else but to have fuds in the cupboard that she may eat on "one of those days" ;-) . They're a bit higher carb than I'd like but they would work for days when she's a bit low and I want to keep her there or if she turns up her nose at eating her regular. I still hold out hope for the steak frites.

Anyways, bedtime @-) . I'll set the alarm maybe, for a +6 or so...Night night, LL!

Re: 3/28 Chyna PMPS 240 New vial +2 208 +4.25 127

Lookey at that blue!!!! Go Chyna. Good luck with the new vial, too. Paws crossed on holding the reduction.

Gosh all that looking for food is exhausting. I had to do it for Gussie but at least I didn't have to worry a ton about carbs although I tried to keep him fairly low in carbs.

Here is info on calculating carbs, fat, protein, P. The second question also includes an excel chart where you can insert the as-feds or DMB numbers and get the % calories from carbs! protein, fat and also the mg P/100 kcal.

Hope you are not getting a sore throat and get some rest and btb tomorrow!
