Morning everyone,
Well we are chalking up yesterday as us making a bad interpretation of Asher's flat numbers. We got a low amps out of the dose reduction but got flat mid day numbers and ended up at 420 for pmps. We haven't seen a 400 since January if memory serves, so that scared me.

We went back up to 2.2 last night with a new bottle of insulin too. Overnight + 2.5 was 376 and +5.5 was 264. Didn't look like anything dramatic was going on so we got some sleep.

This morning our amps was 308. Still higher than we want. I gave him 2.4 units, again from the new insulin bottle. We'll be around today for some spot checks. I hope I made the right choice. I figured no one was going to be around here that early.

Neg ketones today too :)

It's all trial and error. No real absolutely right or wrong. You have been doing very well with very confusing numbers. Hope you have a good day!
 
I think your idea is good, Donna. Wish I could explain this sudden change upward. All I can think is it could be an infection in his mouth? He is acting fine otherwise, right?

As you are fully aware, he could suddenly decide to move downward also. Just be ready in case dear Asher throws another curve. :-|
 
It certainly could be his teeth, no question. That will all be taken care of next week (we hope, touch wood).

He is acting fine and normal, peeing, pooping, purring, playing, being naughty ;)
Last night when he hit 400 he was sparring with his brother, so really I can’t complain, just want to do what is best for him.

I do know he is totally unpredictable, that is why I upped the dose today since we are home at our desks all day today and tomorrow, barring a few errands in town.
He just likes to keep us on our toes I guess.

+7 is back in blue again, 145

Pretty relieved, just hope we can keep things like this for awhile, touch wood, anti jinx............

I got my wish being in the 100’s :) Our pmps is 153.

Anybody think I should stick with the 2.4 and see how this plays out tomorrow? Or do I need to go back to 2.2?

(Disclaimer: We have data to back up shooting under 200, not recommended for new folks, and Asher is a weird cat it seems....)
 
You have shot 2 units into 150 and been okay. There is the variable here with the new vial of insulin. I wouldn't be gutsy enough to do more than 2. And of course, testing overnight....
 
Hmmmm, I see your point on the new insulin variable Sue.

Just worried that 2 units is what got us that 400 pmps yesterday. Would be real bummed to see that again.

I hate these decisions :(
 
After back and forth here, I think we’re gonna do a fat 2 units.... unless anyone thinks that is crazy.
 
Asher must have thought he was making things too easy for you and so had to mix things up. Keep us posted. My paws (and fingers) are crossed you get nice #'s over night and Asher goes back to his pattern of nice blue nadirs.
