I think I may have accidentally given Jake. 5 units of Levemir instead of 1 drop. I usually fill syringe to .5 unit and squeeze out 4 drops. My civie cats started fighting and I set syringe down to separate them, remembered Jake was already eating and grabbed syringe and poked him. Then immediately could not remember if I squeezed out the 4 drop... what should I do? I already gave him 3oz ff chicken.

Please take deep breath and recheck his BG and make sure you have enough testing strips and MC and HC food as well as Caro syrup or honey. Hopefully someone with more experience will respond soon. The most important is to monitor BG and feed to prevent hypo. Jake will be fine.

About six months ago I made mistake and injected Gus with 17 U instead of 1.75U and it was trip to ER for the glucose drip. On the way to ER I fed honey and HC food and he survived.

I just gave him a mixture of high carb-low carb. I am retesting in 1 hour.

The good news is that if you shot too much it's not dramatically as much as 17u.

It looks like his numbers shot up from the HC.

For future reference, if you ever think you've given too much insulin, I'd encourage you to test more frequently than 2 hours. Generally, with low numbers or a situation like this, I'd encourage you to test every 30 min and gently steer the numbers with HC. A lot can happen in 2 hours especially if your pre-shot number is 81. With the 168, I would retest an an hour. If numbers are dropping, post and ask for help -- especially if you're seeing a fast drop due to the HC wearing off.

You may want to look at the sticky note on Shooting & Handling Low Numbers.

Just had a look at Jake's spreadsheet, looks like he had a really great day even if you did happen to give him too much. Good work Jake!
