The estimates for either procedure are An amputation would be the entire leg from hip down

I can't find anything online about diabetic cats with wound issues and treatment, just general mentions that wounds happen. FDMB only goes back to 2014 or so and everything before then is long lost. Reddit had an old thread but the few answers weren't helpful, just said the wounds were from neuropathy and poorly controlled bg levels.

Lots to consider The vet should use Leroy as a case study and publish it

So I decided to fix the leg and just deal with issues as they happen in the future Leroy is scheduled for Tuesday with the head surgeon. The IM vet will be working and keeping tabs on Leroy in between appointments.

Sounds like a good decision. For me, it would be difficult to choose to amputate unless it were a life/death situation and I had no other option. I hope that the surgeon is able to get Leroy's issues resolved.
