Okay I see now why the daughter didn't want to care for Miss Cali for 4 months while her daddy was in the hospital. She's MEAN!!! I barely got her food dish out of her crate without being attacked. But that's okay she might have won the battle this morning temporarily but she hasn't won the war. Once the morning routine settles down I'm going in again this time armed with gloves and a towel.

Depending on how long she decides to keep up this tude only ensures I won't be falling in love with her. Lol. But hey at least she likes canned Friskies. Now to teach her the pokey poke dance.

Going back in. Pray for my safe return.

Re: 3/27 Cali amps-TBA

"You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out, you put your left hand in and you shake it all about, you do the pokey pokey while Cali turns herself about, that's what its all about!"

God speed, Mel. When I got Sammy, the SPCA considered her "likely unadoptable" due to her hyperness and unwillingness to be held or cuddled. Yeah, right.

And I win the war!!! ROFL. She might have so much tude that she makes Autumn look placid but I have thumbs. There is only one attitude allowed here and it's mine!!

First she's front declawed so I only have to watch the teeth. Second I suspect she's more noise than truly mean although if she could have connected I'm sure I would have gotten bite. But after many many years of handling ferals I have a few tricks up my sleeve and lastly never pick a fight with a biker babe we come armed in leather. Lol

Just tossed on the full grain leather riding gloves and my riding jacket, grabbed a towel. Reached in grabbed her while she was screaming like I was killing her with a gloved hand, hauled her on my lap, grabbed an ear and tested. Had a short battle again with the shot but tonight I'll have it ready when I gear up to test. She'll catch on that its useless to fight me.

The funniest part were the expressions on the rest of the gang's faces when she was putting up the fuss. Kinda like "Get a grip woman, our momma is nice. You no bite her or we'll knock the stuffing out of you."

Hopefully she will calm down. She is probably just so scared. Was she around other cats? I sure do hope she calms down a bit.

We had no doubts that you would win :-D

Oh and this is a love story in the making. It will only be a matter of time when she starts to feel better and she will turn that sweet face to you - offer her ear and melt your heart. Yeah, it's coming...

Don't really know much about her life with her daddy other than he's an elderly guy who loves his little calico girl and was crushed thinking she would have to be put down so he could get the medical treatment that he needed.

Nope can't fall in love with her as she will eventually need to go home again to her daddy. She's just a house guest for the summer. Hopefully we can at least become friends and I can have her trained enough to make her easy to test for her daddy.

Really wish I still had a pen of Lantus around. I would have preferred to start her on it rather than the Levemir since more vet's understand Lantus than Levemir. So it would be easier to get her a script for that if I haven't broken her before she goes home.

Well at least tonight she didn't try to take a chunk out of me and I got her tested with just a gloved hand without a towel. Once she calms down I'm not real sure she's gonna need insulin. Looking at the response she got off her first dose of Lev. Not only isn't her shed even close to full she's still so stressed that if she was calm cool and relaxed she'd probably be down another 100 pts.

I can tell by her coat she's been a dry food baby so really glad she finds the new menu to her liking. I can't really tell yet but she appears to have really bad neuropathy but that also could be just fear right now since she isn't out in the general populous yet so haven't really seen her walk.

But at the rate we're going....new species appropriate diet...check. Decent insulin...check. Home testing...needs work but getting there. By the time she goes back home her daddy will have a whole new cat. Lol. Even if I don't break her at least he'll get her back with a soft silky coat and walking on her tippy toes.
