Since I'm awake waiting for another test here are Max's results from 3/25:

ANPS 225 +4=278 +6=278
PMPS 275 +2=214 +4=144 +5.5=97 +6.5=88

DARN IT. He's bouncing again.

Elise

Hi guys .. ugh .. bounces are so frustrating .. I hope that max works his way down for you nice and easy today .. have a great day!

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320

Oh Max, enough with the bouncing, please! Your bean would like to see some lower floors, and not yucky pink :?

I hope he will slide down and clear this soon. Have a good day! :-D

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320+3.25=332

we hope they'll end! slow and steady wins this race. sometimes they bounce and bounce and then they stop - it's like everything "clicks."

you asked last night how people decide when to stop testing for the night and go to bed - at what number? i didn't have a particular number, i looked at the pattern from pmps on. i'm a late night person anyway so i was always up until punkins +4.5. i tested at pmps and +3 always, and depending on how quickly he was dropping i decided by the +3 if i needed to check him again at +4 or +4.5. i looked at the points per hour drop. i know that the drop doesn't stay completely consistent over several hours, but for punkin this worked. he usually dropped at a steady rate from about pmps until +4ish and then it started slowing down. so i'd calculate how many more hours until his nadir (almost always about +5.5) and see if he'd be in a safe range at that point.

Max looks to me like he's pretty consistently (since 3/17) lowest around +6. Last night i would've looked at the 144-97 drop and thought, as you did, that he needed to be checked again. Then when you got the 88, i'd have thought "9 point drop in an hour, he's essentially bottomed out and is flat" and gone to bed. Your next test with the 117 confirmed it.

Does that help any?

Yes that helps a lot. I did that last test to ge extra safe but didn't think it was necessary but was not sure. Thanks, Julie.

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320+3.25=332

Hello Elise and daytime bouncing Max. Here is Max's condo from yesterday. We like to see links to previous condo's so we can follow back what was previously discussed.

Last year Neko was notoriously stubborn about going low at night and bouncing during the day. For about 7 months in a row. It's still her preference. I got good at a short afternoon nap. The good news is that Max isn't bouncing for long.

You asked about figuring out how it was safe to go to bed. Back when Neko was on Lantus, I used to always get a +3 or +4 before going to bed. Rather than staying up every hour, if she wasn't too low I'd try to get a two hour nap in and get a +5 or a +6. I would also look at how the cycle was shaping up and try to compare it to other similar cycles in the past. You can't look at just the one by itself, but I'd look at how the current and previous cycle looked. I could often spot patterns that were 2-3 cycles long. If in doubt at your last test, you can always leave a little bit of LC to nibble on if Max goes lower.

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320+3.25=332

Thanks, Wendy. Again if I didn't know better I would swear he didn't get his insulin this morning, LOL or I will scream!! I'm not a good sleeper at all and napping is something I can't do either. I am snoozing a little in between the early morning test though.

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320+3.25=332+6=326

Well, flat pink means you can declare a pokie break and do something for yourself. I'm better at napping now than I used to be.

Hope your mom is doing better today.

Re: 3/26 Max AMPS 320+3.25=332+6=326

Thanks. She is doing better and definitely coming home tomorrow. They tried to get her out tonight but we pushed them to hind her one more night and get her more alert and walking. I'm at the hospital now so he won't get more tests until PMPS .i won't care if he's blue tonight either.

YIKES, Max. What the heck is going on with you? I came home to find him on my bed and seeming happy. Then I test and get this. He hasn't had a day this bad ever. Of course I question myself. Did I shoot fur and not know it? Did I shoot in a bad spot?

I think my mom will come home tomorrow. They wanted to release her tonight. Her heart rate was on the low side this afternoon so I'm hoping we aren't in for another disappointment or anything problematic. So much for a calm night.

So does this mean I don't need to test him again until tomorrow morning?
