Gizmo continues to do great. Down to 0.25 units (just unbelievable to me). We did decide to stick with the dose (2.5mg twice a day) that the vet prescribed for the hyperT meds, but I am going to keep a very close eye on him. If I notice him “off” for any reason I’m going to request to do his blood work earlier to make sure his thyroid numbers aren’t to low.

The vet is planning on rechecking his kidneys in a month when we retest the thyroid values. I’m very concerned about his kidneys. Hopefully I’m worring for nothing. You might also ask your vet to check his kidney function. It's probably fine, but Hyper-T can mask kidney problems. I have no idea why, but it does. At any rate, once the thyroid is back to functioning normally, if there were any kidney problems they will emerge.
Last fall, his t4 was around 3.5, but just recently it shot up to 6.5 and 6.7 (I believe - it was 6 something at both tests).I re-read this and I have to ask - what was the total T4? I'm now wondering if meds is truly necessary if the tT4 is still in high 2's or low 3's.
