Last Night's Condo

Thank you to Serryn, Carla, Amy, Elise, Linda and Marilyn for visiting our last condo earlier today. At least I'm earlier tonight than last night! Another crazy day. Cinco again gave me no cause for worry by surfing blue. Now, however, I'm worrying that he's been surfing blue so much and maybe needs more juice! It never ends, does it? :banghead: A few minutes ago he came out of the lb after going poo and threw up. The poo looked normal, not dry or hard, so I don't think he had a hard time passing it. He's been pretty regular lately, too. No idea what that was all about. I didn't give him any meds for it - I'll just see how he does with dinner, and afterwards. He rarely throws up, so it gets my attention. Like I needed another thing to stress about!

Minka had her first acupuncture session today. She did not want to eat anything before we left, even though I gave her the tummy meds nice and early so they'd kick in soon enough for her to have breakfast. She was very good the whole time, except she kept shaking her head and sending the needle in her forehead flying.

. I liked Dr. Kress. She wholeheartedly endorses the no dry food mantra. She likes that most of what I try to feed my herd is grain free. She is going to bring me a few supplements for Minka next time, and maybe something for Cinco (I asked her some questions about diabetic kitties). She was very impressed at my juggling act with all four special needs kitties. She said she's had as many as five at a time, but never more than two with special needs. We go back on Tuesday. Minka seemed more chipper after the session, and less stressed on the ride home, but still no appy when we got back. I gave her some Cypro about an hour ago. She's nibbled a little here and there, but not really eaten anything. If she doesn't want to eat her dinner, I'll be breaking out the syringe. When I weighed her today, she was actually up from last week, but that weight was down from the week before, so that's why UCD says she's lost weight. Sasha is up an ounce, and Harvey is stable.

Because the appointment was mid-morning, I didn't have time to do fluids before we left, and I was worried that if we did them when we got home, it would be too close to her evening fluids, so I had one of the techs at the vet's office give her 100 mls. It went faster than I do it, but of course, she's much more experienced! Luckily, Minka did not pee in the carrier on the way home, although she went straight to the lb when I let her out of the carrier!

Today's crisis: bees! We've been finding dead or dying bees in the house periodically for months, and I could never figure out where they are coming from. I suspected they had somehow gotten into the attic. This afternoon I was in the front yard and heard a loud buzzing. I turned and looked back at the house and saw maybe 50-60 bees, flying around the eaves over the front door (on the second floor)!

I called Orkin, and the soonest they can come out is Monday. However, they warned me that if they are honey bees, they cannot touch them - they are protected by law. We would have to hire a beekeeper to come and remove them without harming them.

I looked it up online, and I'm pretty sure they are honey bees. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Sending healing vines to all in need, especially DoLou and Doodle, and hugs to all their beans, especially Lisa and Jennifer. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Lisa's DF, Marje's DM and Elise's DM.

We've had bees at my mom's house and hives hanging from the overhang over the patio that look like mud. We had a bee person come out and remove them but luckily they were honey bees I guess. I'd call other companies as I'm afraid of bees and wouldn't wait that long. We used a small company because it was a Sunday.

Minka, time to eat. Cinco, thanks for behaving while your mom was away but now you can show her some nice green. Not too low though.

Hey Cinco! I appreciate the blue and yellow support, but hey buddy...you don't have to do that on my account! Head on back to the lagoon before your mama's trigger finger gets any itchier! ~ China

Nice of Cinco to stay in safe numbers while you've had to run! Hopefully whatever's going on with him and China will work it's way out of the picture soon!

Sounds like Minka did well...just didn't like that one in her beautiful forehead! Hope the treatments help her though...and sending extra appy vines for her tonight

Yeah...if they're honeybee's, the news has been filled with reports at how their being wiped out so while it's a royal pain to find a beekeeper to move them, you're doing something nice for the environment.....of course when there are buzzing, stinging insects around, the last thing you really think of is being "environmentally responsible"!

Hope you have a quiet night tonight and everyone eats, poops, pees and surfs in nice safe numbers! Is that too much to ask??

boy , as hard of a time as I have juggling the one..... I don't know how you do 4.

i understand not wanting the bees....
maybe if you could light some incense.... something like that.... that's how bee keepers calm them... with smoke.
And hopefully you'll have someone tomorrow come take them off your hands.

beware of those dead ones.... they can still sting you if you hit that stinger.

I actually read recently not to pick dandelions out of the yard, as they are the first flower that bees can use....
so today... i had to grumble as I walked by all these dandelions in my yard.... and left them to grow.

Today I'm jealous of Cinco's numbers. Maybe the two of them will find the way down slowly. At this point I'd be happy with the grotto.

The acupuncture visit sounded good. What is she treating with Minka? Neko objects to the kidney 3 needle about 2/3 of the way down the back. I do like the real whole cat approach the acupuncture vets seem to have, including agreeing with what we think of as good nutrition.

Oh my on the bees! Is there a local bee keepers association who would be willing to relocate them to a nice orchard somewhere? Since there is supposed the be a shortage you think they'd be interested in free bees.;)

Whew- I am exhausted reading your condo--I don't know how you keep it all straight! Hope Cinco is feeling okay now? Continuing vines for Minka and Sasha, scritches for Harvey! (don't want to leave him out! ;-) ) I hope the accupuncture visits work well for Minka.

Bees, especially honey bees are getting scarce around here! I hope you can find a way to get them relocated. Hornets and wasps I have no use for, but I do worry about the honeybee situation. (and I am allergic as well)

He's just a big ol' tease, Wendy! He knows how badly I want to see green. He did not seem to suffer any ill effects from throwing up this morning. Otto was clean as a whistle when I got home, and I know Cinco was the one that cleaned him because I sprinkled Forti Flora on the food and Harvey does not like that stuff! I think she did use the kidney needles. The ones in her back stayed put. There was one on her knee on her back leg that stayed, too, but the one on her head and ones on her front legs didn't last long at all. She also tried the end of the nose, which is supposed to be a good appy spot, but that one didn't last a second!

Minka still hasn't eaten a significant amount - a couple bites here, a couple bites there. If she isn't better tomorrow, I'll break out the Mirtz and I will syringe feed. I was about to fill a syringe tonight when she stuck her head in a plate and ate the most she's eaten all day (still not a lot, but enough that I didn't think the timing was right to assist feed). Her "pooch" from this morning's fluids was gone so we gave her the 50 mls right before bed. She's so good, but I'm still dreading doing that without DH to hold her.

@Tiger and Ruth, I don't think I could keep it all straight if I didn't have my lists. I made charts on Excel for each cat with their meds and the date, and I fill in the times when I give them. That way I can tell at a glance who still needs what. The biggest problem is they keep adding meds and I have to redo the sheet! Pretty soon Minka is going to need a poster instead!

I need to get to bed 'cause I have to take Mark to the airport tomorrow morning. I should be able to do more visiting over the weekend, but I do thank everyone that has stopped by our condo today and offered words of encouragement. It really helps to know you all are out there. :bighug:

So now we know that syringe feeding threats work too! You'd better eat your breffis Minka!

Cinco that +5 was very naughty what a tease...

I'm hoping those bees are honey bees so that they can live to buzz another day :)

Ok, Tricia. I just read your condo. Punctuality is not my strength. And I'm even more exhausted than I thought I was. Gee, bean, you are amazing. The plates are always in the air and they're always spinning. Where's Ed Sullivan when you need him?

I'm just sending blanket vines to everyone for everything. And mostly to daBean for an easy weekend.
