Trix is still feeling a bit bouncy this morning, but is working on clearing it.

I mentioned a few days ago that I found inconsistencies between Dr Lisa's food charts regarding the Weruva (which includes "Cats in the Kitchen) flavors. On the chart where foods are listed by brand, many of the flavors seemed like they'd be fine for our FD kitties as well as our FD/CKD kitties, but when I cross-referenced them in the "phosphorous" chart, these same Weruva foods had carbs that were through the roof. So last night I e-mailed Dr Lisa to ask which chart was correct. She said the "by brand" chart is correct; she had gotten updated info from Weruva but hasn't had a chance to get the phosphorous chart updated. This is awesome news, as it gives us more options!

So, for breffis, we had Cats in the Kitchen Chicken Frick 'A Zee. This stuff is actually shredded white meat chicken, as opposed to completely unrecognizable mush. I'm vegan, but I think non-vegan humans could actually consider eating this stuff! Trix and Frankie gave it mixed reviews. They really seemed to enjoy the flavor, but to be honest, they didn't seem to know how to eat it, since they are used to "slurping" their fuds rather than chewing it  ! I think once they get the hang of it, it will be a keeper....it's staying in the rotation, but for now I may blend it with a pate, until they get the hang of biting into it. Someone DID "mystery CPC' what I left down after I went BTB. The KibbleHeads (aka, The Triplets - Noah, Petey, and Zen) continue to express complete and utter disinterest in any and all of these new fuds we're trying out. Maybe some day....

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding (or, in this case, the Frick 'A Zee!) with the food charts...no fuds spike, so from a BG perspective, we're in good shape with this one.

In other news, it is snowing yet again...hard. 5"-8" predicted    . I am SO done with this weather...

Time to get ready for work...have a great day, LL!

Amy

That's awesome news, thanks for posting! I don't know if anyone here carries Weruva, but I will be going through those "by brand charts" with a highlighter to see if anything else is good for carbs and phos that I may have missed, I was looking at the phos ascending one in general! Ditto on the snow, so done with it  Hope you all have a good day :-D

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Nice recovery Trixie - keep on sliding down. Off to the lagoon for you?

Good news on the weruva. YAY! I will remember that one, and hopefully I can find it in the stores... it would be nice to have another variety to offer Mannie. Thanks for posting the info. It is great not to see a fuds spike.

Have a great day today.

Hi Amy, I was looking for your condo earlier and couldn't find you until I had Mannie's coffee! ~O)
Thanks for the research and update on low phosphorus fuds. Is the Cats in the Kitchen Chicken Frick 'A Zee by Weruva? I think our PetPeople sells Weruva. Looks like Trixie may have a nice slide down. I had to laugh with the rest of the family not impresseed with the new fuds!

Re: 3/25 Trixie AMPS 233 +2.5 167 +4 144- Weruva Info!

Well, it's definitely a slow slide, but heading in the right direction.

Ann - Yes, "Cats in the Kitchen" is one of the lines of fuds by Weruva. I get it at my local Ma and Pop pet food store, Dogs and Cats Rule. As a fellow small retail owner, I'm thrilled to be able to support them again. They don't carry foods like Fancy Feast, so when Trix was eating those, I was stuck with PetSmart and supermarkets, and while those places are great, I really want to see the local small businesses stick around. Dogs and Cats has a great selection of non-supermarket fuds - I'm very luck to have access to the best of both worlds!

Thanks Amy for the info on the Weruva foods. I love the small business stores also and try and support them. We have a couple similar small owner pet stores not too far away. The PetPeople carry just the higher quality foods and can always order something they don't have stocked. I remember getting the look the first time I visited this store and asked where they kept the FF! Don't get me wrong though, as I like the FF line, especially the FF T&G. It's just Mags can't eat it.
Trixie, keep sliding on down to green.

Keep that slide going, Trix! Thank you for sharing your research results, Amy. We are in a similar situation with Zener. Happy Monday!

The name of that cat food is making this carnivore mighty hungry! I wonder if those KibbleHeads of yours would act so nonchalant if you set up a trail cam? Maybe threaten them with that....Snow here as well, though the daffodils and tulips are pushing their little selves up through it, so Spring should be making her actual bonafide entrance here soon....!!!!

Re: 3/25 Trixie AMPS 233 +2.5 167 +4 144 PMPS 173- Weruva In

I'm sure it would be entertaining to see what these guys are up to when we're not home....maybe. Then again, maybe I don't want to know  ! I do wonder who my "mystery CPC-er" has been. I know it's not Zen, because he was in the bedroom (with the door closed) snoozing next to me. I've got my money on Frankie or Trixie, who both already eat the mush, but who knows...I could be very surprised if I did set up a trail came  !

Re: 3/25 Trixie PMPS 173+2.25 187- Weruva Info!

It's time to lay a dosecrease threat out on the table, to see if we can get a little action here....hear that , Miss Trix ;-) ?

Re: 3/25 Trixie PMPS 173+2.25 187- Weruva Info!

Hi Amy,
Thanks for the info. on Weruva. I haven't seen it here or in Plattsburgh, but I think I've seen it in the Agway in Potsdam. So the next time I'm over that way I'll look for it. Rusty only has 5 teeth, so eats the pate foods, but he also eats freeze-dried chicken pieces (I think he swallows them whole), so maybe he'd eat the Weruva.

Have a great evening,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Our local mom & pop pet-food store, which is also a laundromat (!), has much more for dogs than for cats. But they do order Wellness for me.
