Re: 3/25 Mego Skipping PM dose/ ? 3/26 AM dose
oh what a day! mego likes to keep you on your toes.
tomorrow's dose...
given the circumstances, if mego were mine i'd reduce the dose to 0.75 unit. mego is responding well... almost too well for being on insulin for just a few days. you don't know if he'll self feed and going forward you may not be shooting consistent doses every 12 hours because of your ever changing work schedule. it's better to be safe than sorry.
we can still make this work! we've had other caregivers with odd schedules whose kitties have done very, very well. there's a couple options as far as figuring out shot times for the weeks ahead.
one option libby suggested is to use a 6:30 - 7ish shot schedule for most of the week and then shoot when you get home friday night. skip something on the weekend to get back on track (take the opportunity to skip whenever you get a low preshot over the weekend). we'd also encourage you to skip or shoot BCS doses whenever you feel the need. with mego's response to date... you might find that the numbers won't change much with a skipped shot or greatly reduced dose.
another option i worked on this morning was to make adjustments based on the work schedule for that particular week. i was about to post the schedule this afternoon and thought better of it. the internet can be a crazy place. i don't think it would be in your best interest to publicly post your comings and goings... when you'll be home and when you'll be gone. i will PM the schedule to you as soon as i finish typing this post.
as with libby's suggestion, we'd like to encourage you to skip shots or shoot greatly reduced doses whenever you feel the need... especially when shot times are less than 12 hours apart.
the TR group revolves around shooting full doses every 12 hours. it's likely you will receive advice geared towards following the protocol to the letter. it's not something you can do with your unique schedule... and that's perfectly ok! i'm very, very optimistic about mego's treatment! i think both of you will do a great job!
