AMPS=225, gave 0.5u

Harley gave me his kitty alarm clock signal - vomiting up a hairball. It always gets me out of bed every time! Gave him pulverized Pepcid AC in a teaspoon of baby food and his first 2.5mg dose of chicken prednisolone. He ran when he saw me coming with the syringe but after I got it into him without too much trouble, he licked the syringe clean. Joanna, we may have hit paydirt!

Gave 0.5u until I see the higher numbers kick in later today or tomorrow. So long blue & yellow, hello pink. :mrgreen:

Wishing everyone a happy Friday with smooth surf!

Oh Laura, hard to balance good numbers with feeling good. Guess we just have to hope this bout is short lived.

We'll take the bad numbers if it means deflaming his pancreas and getting him to eat on his own. He was a snuggling purr-monster this morning after we climbed back into bed. cat_pet_icon

Like Kim said, it's hard not to freak when seeing the higher numbers because I'm such a newbie, but I keep telling myself he won't keel over and die from them, it's temporary, and we've been spoiled by good numbers too long. Time to earn my dosing stripes!

And you are not seeing reds, pinks and blacks. You are almost seeing regulated numbers - 200s at preshot and 100s at nadir. So, if he stays in this range awhile, you are absolutely right - it is okay.

Have we suggested that you monitor for ketones or are you already doing that? With his other complications, couldn't hurt.

Glad he seems happier - like to hear about purr monsters.

Yes, I've been testing for ketones whenever I see him in the box and can shov a little dish under him to catch a sample. So far they've been negative. I'll be checking more as his numbers rise.

You may be earning your dosing stripes, but you have an armful of great kitty mom stripes and medals :)

Glad you got more snuggles and love today. That has to be a good sign of better days ahead and it’s healing for the momma!

I know what you mean about hairballs getting you out of a dead sleep. You grab a magazine and do the one arm forward volleyball dive into the carpet to get under the barf in time. Yay.
Builds character, I guess ;-)

Hugs to you and Harley :YMHUG:

OMG you've been lurking in my bedroom! :lol: Except I don't have any magazines, this morning I had to use a shirt. Figured it'll wash easier than the carpet.

PMPS=284, shot 1u

Harley meekly took his chicken flavored prednisolone and ate his Pepcid AC spiked chicken baby food. I hope I've got this medication routine figured out. Cross paws antijinx! He also had his juice bar treatment tonight. Tomorrow I hang a fresh bag. The pred. is working as his appetite is perking up and the twice a day dosing is making it a little more of an even hunger instead of a starving once a day scarf. Ketone test was negative. Life is indeed good. :-D

Started 1 unit tonight and it seems to be holding the PMPS number at bay as +2 was 286 and +4 was 281.

'Night all. <<meow>>

So glad Harley is taking his meds better. So much easier for you both. Paws crossed Harley feels better soon.
