This week has flown by in a blur. Between a series of nearly unmanageable work deadlines (ugh) and a surprise visit from my totally precious and dearly beloved 20-year-old goddaughter and her parents (yay!!), it's been all I can do to keep Chispa tested and fed, let alone remembering to get a meal myself. aaaaagh .... when can I retire???
Luckily, ONE of us has been on a pretty even keel lately. Up until this morning, I would have ventured to say that we had finally gotten Chispa's bouncing under control! ... yeah, I crack myself up sometimes too.
Anyway, last night's 57 may well have been followed by something lower, but since I had fallen dead asleep while DBF continued to shovel food into her, we'll never know.
As long as I'm full of extraneous commentary, here's a photo that I took while touring the cherry blossoms with my goddaughter and family and everyone else in the DMV. I think this tree must have been part of the original gift from Japan in 1912. It's obviously been through a lot, but it's still standing there like it has a job to do, and damned if anyone is going to stop it from shining with all that it's got!!! I don't know which impresses me more, the tree itself or the Park Service, which has pruned off every branch except one but still refuses to give up on it.
I think I am going to print this out and frame it for whenever I start to feel discouraged.
Happy weekend to all
