This has been a very long day, and my internetz are excruciatingly slow this evening. I feel like taking a sledgehammer to my PC about now. I will elaborate more on Butthead's Thursday adventures later on, but in the meantime, as promised: here's da Butthead in his special Butthead carseat

oh, and that 1-second clip of Butthead I posted previously? The reason I couldn't embed a youtube link is because I uploaded it to Photobucket, not YouTube ohmygod_smile

stick a fork in me; I'm done.

Hi ((((mj and Butthear))))

I have been thinking of you gusy a lot. I hope you butthead are doing ok.

The vidoe is great, I love the purring.

Wishing you healing vines and lots of white lite. Thanks for keeping us posted when you have going so much going on.

Take care sweeties.

ohhh he's soooo sweet MJ!
I felt like I could reach thru the screen and give him big hugs.
Hang in there (((((MJ)))) and lots of healing vines for Butthead.

:YMHUG: (((MJ))) (((Butthead))
I really enjoyed the pic & video, thank you for sharing! What a good passenger Butthead is ;-)
I continue to pray for you two & send positive, healing vibes your way.

Butthead is so adorable! Maggie was sitting on my lap while I was watching the video, and she kept looking up ar the computer and listening to Butthead purring. Sending vines and prayers to Butthead and you.

Oh M.J. Butthead is so cute. I also wanted to pick him up right out of the computer and give him a big kiss.
What a sweet little guy.

How often do you go to Angell? Where exactly in Boston is the hospital.....just thinking how far away....hmm.

That picture has a serious AWWWW factor. And then I opened the video and heard the purring. He just melted my heart. Someone once told me our heart is like a basket and it needs to be refilled and Butthead just refilled it to the top. I can't believe he is so comfortable in the car that he is purring. Does he love being able to see in his carseat? Does he stay in it or still try and jump up on the dash?

Thank you so much for sharing the picture and the video. Sending healing vines and wishing that you get a lot more time with your beautiful boy.

oh my goodness! What a terrific purr butthead has!! I loved hearing it .. And what an adorable pic ... my girls would NEVER be that calm in a car ..

What a beautiful boy he is! And so curious and relaxed. Butthead, you are a wonderful kitty! Thanks, MJ, for sharing him with us.
We continue to send our prayers for him.

aw, MJ...you just totally made my day!!

Butthead is my hero!
Binks LOVES his purring...he smeared up my laptop screen trying to sniff out where Butthead was hiding!

LOVE LOVE the pics that is just so darn cute ((((((MJ))))) thanks for sharing his carseat pics maybe I need to get one for DL he hates being in a carrier and always wants to get out and sit in my lap

awww, Butthead does have a serious AWWW factor. he's so cute. punkin hides under the back of the driver's seat when he's in the car. sometimes you can't even see any fur he's so tucked in. it's great that Butthead (that makes me laugh every time) is so calm.

i wanted to pet his fur - he looks so soft.

I am so glad you posted this : just how cute can Butthead be? :-D That purring sound really is soothing. I'm sending healing vibes his way.

Punkin watching Butthead on the netbook while Anya is listening to the purring

She looked around to see where that purring was coming from.

i've only spent the last 2 hours intermittently trying to post this silly picture. First the Shockwave Player broke down "oh snap" says google, then I updated the Adobe Shockwave Player but it still wouldn't upload the pic to Photobucket. So then I updated Google Chrome - and you know each time you have to close everything and restart the puter. It's not even that good of a picture but once i started i was determined to do it.

but the short story is that it was captivating for the cats even. Butthead wins.

That took me almost an hour to upload last night. I am TRYING to upload a video of him inhaling baby food after treatment, but while I remembered to bring my camera to work, I neglected to bring fresh batteries :-| Phooey.

So. I took Butthead to Angell yesterday for his 4th radiation treatment. At the beginning of the week, I felt a new suspicious lump on him in his lower throat area, and asked them to check it out. As I was waiting, the vet came to see me and said she was "very concerned" :?. The conversation was leaning toward "why keep doing this if the cancer continues to spread". Not what I wanted to hear. Going back on chemo didn't seem wise since it didn't do squat before. She wanted to take chest x-rays before proceeding to make sure it hadn't metastasized elsewhere, and aspirate the new lumps though we both know darn well what it is. X-ray was still clear (yay), and she agreed to radiate the new area in addition to the previous mass. Butthead will be returning for more radiation next week, and we'll see what to do from there. I know I'm just chasing this evil Thing as it travels through his body, but he's tolerating it. He's happy. I have to continue trying to slow it down. That is my thinking right now, at least. I anticipate the worst, and am thankful for every bit of good news I get about him.

I was there a long time, and had some interesting waiting area visitors again. One was a diabetic dog who has been on Humulin N for years and his sugar levels are dropping too low and bouncing (imagine that...) I waited until the vet stepped out to briefly speak to the owner and say I have a diabetic cat, and a different insulin like Levemir or Lantus might work better at keeping BG fluctuations less severe. She was very interested, and when the vet returned she mentioned it, and the vet at least sounded open to the idea. Sounded like the dog was on 6 units of insulin (!), and he's ~18 lbs, but perhaps dogs are different. Since I'm not knowledgable in that area, I didn't want to preach. They left soon after so I couldn't say more to her.

Another visitor was a turtle -- a small snapping turtle who hadn't been eating well for a few days. They took x-rays and discovered he was fulla swallowed rocks. The owner had found the baby turtle in their pool at the end of Summer and were keeping it over the winter until they could release it in a safe place. If the rocks didn't pass and/or caused obstruction, they estimated surgery would cost ~$1800. While the woman who brought the turtle was hoping things would resolve naturally, she didn't sound completely against surgery either. She felt responsible for helping it along since she found it. I get that. Heck, years ago when I had pet mice, I would bring them to my vet to remove tumors (they are very prone to that). He said it was good surgical practice for him, and only charged me for anesthesia. ANYway, a woman spending a couple grand on a turtle, and me spending uhhh... quite a bit more than that on Butthead... that's just the way we are. I have the money now, and will deal with the consequences of not having it for something else later when the time comes.

So, I got there w/Butthead around 9:30, and didn't leave until about 1:30 pm, so he was pretty darn hungry when I fed him in the car afterwards. I'll upload that video as soon as I can. He laid on my lap and zonked out for almost the entire trip home. No bucket seat rubbernecking this time. I'd like to take him out for a non-vet related drive this weekend so he can happily sit in his bucket while not under the influence of sedatives and hunger.

For those who asked, Angell is right off Rte 9 in Boston (technically Jamaica Plain, I think) on South Huntington Ave. Is there going to be a meet and greet for Butthead?

I was thinking about meeting you and Butthead. I am about 30 minutes away from Angell. :-D

(((MJ))) (((Butthead))): he has that wonderful foldie purr....unbelievable and what a good, good boy he is!!! He's just beautiful and I'm so sorry to hear that there may be other areas now but I'm so happy that it is not in his lungs. I know you are holding him tight and loving every second you have with this amazing and incredible boy....he does not seem as if anything is wrong and you know, MJ, in his world, maybe nothing is.

beautifully spoken, Marjorie.

and what a blessing to have this wonderful guy for every moment that you can.

much love and heartfelt prayers coming your way from us, MJ.

Butthead is so cute. I'm glad you have those videos and his purr to share with us. Both made me smile.

I understand about trying getting as much time with him as you can.
And taking him out for a leisure drive in his new bucket seat sounds like a great idea.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday drive. cat_pet_icon

Butthead slurping baby food (didn't want to wait for me to use the spoon)

Oh my Lord! He is the most adorable boy! You would never know he was sick because he seems so happy and content, and seems to get so much joy out of his baby food. I understand exactly where you are. When you look at him, how could you not do everything within your power to give him as much quality time as possible. These videos alone are worth it! I spent more than I care to say on Belle, but whatever time I gained far outweighs any monetary loss. Money is meant to be spent on the important things in life, and what could be more important than that beautiful, purring , baby food eating boy!
