Whoa shes high this morning. Shes been eating very good though. I overslept and didnt get the full curve and dont have time to update spreadsheet or link previous right now, but she was 288 at +2 and 262 at +4 and 322 at +9. I'm giving her 2.75 this morning. I'll be at work but I think she'll be fine, especially since shes eating well atm, plus shes been on it before. I'd actually give her 3 if it weren't that I'm going to be gone, although I feel she could handle that too. What a sucky start to the day.

Vet got most of the test results back. She said there was a lot of bacteria in her urine so she definitely has a UTI, and to continue the antibiotics for 10 days and then we'll do a follow-up urinalysis to make sure the infection is cleared. According to her, we caught it pretty early, which was good. She said there was some glucose and I think protein in the urine, obviously because of the higher numbers she had been having, but the fructosamine actually showed she was decently regulated and the vet was happy about that, and we will of course continue to work on getting the BGs better (at first I refused the fructosamine since I test at home, but I finally just said go ahead and do it). She said BUN levels were starting to kind of creep up a little bit (I think she said 40 or 14? but not 100% sure; I was at work when she called; once all the results are in, I'll ask for a copy so I have the exact numbers) and so were triglycerides, which could mean her kidneys are working a little harder than they need to; she thinks because of a high protein diet. We're not sure if the numbers look like that because of the short time she was on the Elsey's. The plan is to re-test in about 6 months and see if they're better or if we need to do a diet change. I asked her about the cataracts and she insisted they were not from old age but from diabetes; she said the cataracts were not fully formed, were partial, and were not affecting her vision now. Sounds like they're newish or may have been slowly forming. When I asked about surgery and her seeing a specialist, the vet said I can get her checked but they don't do surgery unless the BGs are well regulated because otherwise the cataracts can come back. Overall she didn't sound overly concerned about anything, though I'm of course concerned now about making sure her kidneys are ok. She also said to continue with the Mirtazapine every 72 hours and giving the 3 units of insulin.

Something else I forgot to mention that I thought was interesting... This particular vet practice, when they do bloodwork, they also check for virals like for FIP, etc. She said my cat tests negative for it. The reason that is significant to me is because I don't know if anyone remembers my thread a few months ago about a second cat, but my dad had to move into a nursing home and I had to figure out what to do with his cat because none of my siblings would take her and he obviously couldn't keep her anymore. I would have loved to have kept her but the vet advised against it because my dad's cat tested positive on the low end for the feline coronavirus and could therefore infect my cat with it. We had wondered how my cat would test and if she had ever been exposed to the virus in the past too, since many cats are. Well now we know she is negative, so sounds like it was a good thing to have kept them separated like we did. Can't get FIP if you don't have FCOV.

She just made some explosive diarrhea. Been eating good today so hoping the food plus Fortiflora will firm her up soon.
Got a nice +4. We're in the blue. just got to watch to make sure we don't do any crazy dives.
