I hope everyone had a great weekend, and a good Sunday yesterday. It was a great day for me yesterday. The weekend was rather laid back, which was good I think. Sunday was the busier of the two, got alot done and was able to play too! Here's what I wrote in two separate posts yesterday, about the day: "Morning Everyone. I hope your Sunday is off to a good start. We have done well here. I decided early on today to try and catch the sunrise this morning down at the shore, so out the door at 6AM. WOOT! It was a nice one, though not as colorful as some have been. The cloud cover kept shifting, some blocking the sun. I still had a nice peaceful morning walk at the shoreline, and through the woods on the way home. There are signs of spring everywhere, flowers are budding, trees leafing out. I've found patches of skunk cabbage and trillium. We even have the flower for our first berries: Salmonberries. What a nice start to the day. :-D ---- Weather here has been great. :-D We made 60 today, under blue skies. Morning was a little cloudy but that went away soon enough. It has been ever so nice here. It has been a been a great day here. I did make it out, early. Went to the shore for the sunrise, it was nice though. Felt darn cold down there too! Cold hands! Came home and worked in the yard some, got alot just cleaned up. Looks alot better, but still alot to do. With it being near 60 and sunny I went out after that for short walk. That was awesome, felt great to have sun on the face, I had to laugh when I went by the park/woods/ shore trail, as the parking lot was full as were all the side streets. ALOT of folks on that trail. Sure glad I went early. For those of you that asked about or commented on the horrific mudslide here, things are still a mess on SR530. The number of missing is going up, slowly, number of dead at 4. One of the news people reported the the river has started channeling, so they hope that will relieve some of the build up behind the mud damn in the river. Read too that the mud is still moving, but some areas have started to dry, sort of. I guess they are still considering this a search and rescue effort, haven't given up on those missing folks yet. Seems that the responders are going in with ropes tied around them so they too don't go under or be swept away. Read too that they are trying to open Mtn Loop Hwy (the scenic mountain road that connects to SR 530, and the majority of the hiking trails) so that people have away to get out. That apparently is still snow covered. wow on it all. unreal huh."

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   What to say about the kitties.... They have been good kitties, and even Lola! Well sorta on Lola... Lola will always be Lola. With the weather being so sunny ALL the kitties wanted out. it was a battle to get in and out with Lola. She was practicing her escape skills. I did prevail however. So she had to spend most of the day running from window to window . It seems the birds were out and about, and she so wanted one to play with. Bug was content just to look, Elsa did get a few trips out, she was so happy to have the sun on her back. I found her walking the walk, aka Mannie's old path, several times. Cool! . It was a good day for the kitters. Normalcy in MusketeerVille!

Have a great day everyone! I'm not too sure what will be here today. One of those days when I shall see what comes to be. If the weather clears some I may go do some local hiking. Our sunny skies from yesterday seem to have left us. Bummer! And... I still need to clean my house, which I never did do over the weekend.

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

Hi Michelle,
I love your pics from yesterday. What a contrast from the early morning photos of the sunrise and the water to the spring bloom of the afternoon shots. I'm so glad you had a beautiful day for your walks. What's on the agenda for today?
The news of the mudslide is devastating. They said on the radio that the mud was like quicksand and that it was flowing like lava. I'm glad that you were not in that area when it happened!

Have a lovely day today and a good hike.

Elsa, the double espresso was great. I guess you needed skis again to make your delivery! We admire you for your fortitude.

Scritches to the kitties, hugs to you,

Ella & Rusty

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

THX on the pics! We had such nice sunny weather, that I had to get out, even if it was just local. ME too on all you said about yesterday. Today we have clouds with sun breaks, temps up to 65!!!! :-D :-D So I have decided to take off on a mini road trip on HWY 2 to Stevens Pass (granted, not 65 there, more like 35 ;-) ), and see some gorgeous mountains, see how accessible the boys and my fav rivers are. You reports on the mudslide are correct. They too here are describing it as quicksand consistency, making any sort of rescue very hazardous. it just keeps getting worse there. ME TOO on not being there... The spot I usually hike is about 10 miles from there, the Sauk River, but still.... way too close for comfort!
Auntie Ella - THANKS YOU! I like that: fortitude! I am getting good at skiing, and not spilling a drop too. mega cool, huh! Round two coming up soon! ~~ Elsa, KBP

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

Hi Michelle! I'm sorry Lola wants to go out and it's a fight...would she wear a halter/leash? She'd probably escape from one but I thought about it when Chyna would press her face to the window when I was on the deck and would feel bad ;-). I never did try it, and now she doesn't care, she'd rather nap inside

That's crazy horrible on the mudslide. I'm glad you are safe. I hope you manage to get the house cleaning done, and get out for a hike. Happy Monday!

Hi Michelle,
Gorgeous mountain views win out over housework every time!! Enjoy your mini roadtrip :-D

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

It sounds like you had the perfect balance of relaxation and getting stuff done. More power to you, heading out that early! I'm lucky I can get up and feed the kitties at that hour.

Lola...it's for your own safety! Stay inside, little girl - MamaBean has given you SOOOOO much stuff to play with...not to mention how creative you are on your own!

I hope you're having a great day, Michelle!

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

Beautiful pictures from yesterday. I hope you enjoy your trip today. Poor Lola. I bet she would have a blast outside, but I'm sure she'd run wherever she wanted to. That is horrible about the mudslide.

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

Beautiful pics from yesterday Michelle. I loved the flowering trees - we've got roads lined with them here. They are so beautiful this time of year. The salmonberry flowers make me smile, they always herald the return of the rufous hummingbirds and I've seen both and female ones here now. :-D Have fun today on your hike. The mountains should be beautiful.

The slide made the front page on our papers and it does sound really dangerous.

I'd love a video of Lola on a leash - I think that would be hilarious.

Re: 3/24 LOOSE LIPS: trails & sun... HAPPY CHEERY CHERRY MON

Hi everyone! How is Monday treating you? We did very well here! It has been a gorgeous day here. Sunny and warm, We supposedly made 71 today. YaHOO! Though right now my temp thingie says 64. Either way, sensational. One could get used to this. It is sunny and warm under blue skies, no winds. As I speak however it is getting a little overcast out there.... :? Today has been very nice. I took a chance on good weather, and headed on out to HWY 2, with the intent of visiting as many of my usual haunts along the Skykomish River that I could. I ended up going over Steven's Pass too, if only because it was gorgeous up there, and I just kept driving, taking it all in. There is still alot of snow there - several feet high at the Pass... so I decided not to explore there, and headed back to the Skykomish, which was the intent anyways. The town of Skykomish looks as it always looks, such a small quaint RR town. I love that place. The classic turn of the century hotel is still for sale, for a mere $325K. I had to laugh - you look in the windows only to see grass growing on the floor... Guess those seeds liked that old carpet.  ! I had wanted to visit Beckler River, which is one of Nihcolas's fav rivers, but the road is still under snow, maybe a foot or so... so went to Index ( a bit furtehr down the road, but also on the river) instead, and visited my new fav spot: where the Trout Creek merges with the Skykomish River, and the site of the washout, from several years ago where the river reclaimed what was hers, and removed the road. . It is so pretty there. I plan on taking the boys there, and to the trout Creek site, sometime this spring and/or summer. It would be a good spot for them. On the way back I stopped in at the Espresso Chalet, just east of the road to Index. There is a really nice trail behind that place - lots of views of Mt Index. Who knew? not me. That was a wonderful discovery. Also visited Zeke's drive-in on the way home, on a whim. I've always meant to stop, as I hear the burgers are really good. So today I did, figuring why not? They were good, a little pricey, but good. It is a family run small dinner, serving burgers, fries and shakes. What a great day on the river plus some today. Ever so glad In listened to that inner voice and went. FUN TIMES! I will post the Picassa link in tomorrow's condo.

Hi Rachel ~O) Every thing is a watch out for lola!  She wants out so bad... I rally do need to come up with something so she can, whether a catio or a run, something. I just can't let her out to explore - she just goes too far fr home. I wonder on a leash. I may try one in house and see hoe she tolerates it, and doesn't escape from it.  Too funny on Chyna. I wonder if Lola will ever come to that conclusion. hmmmm... Yes on the slide. A terrible tragedy that seems to be getting worse. THX on today - it was great. I never did clean. HAH!

Hi Jane ~O) YUPP! and they did!!   THX, it was a great time. :-D

Hi Amy ~O) It worked out well yesterday - took time for both. I was tired by days end, but what else is new there. well, yes on the early hour - it's been that way for me for years: a parent of swimmers, so early ruled the roost, and the hours have stuck with me. :-D :-D :-D on Lola - I tell her tahat too, till the lure of the outdoors has her wanting... plus she sees Elsa go out and well as far as she is concerned she should be too. uhhh.... nope! THX on today - it was great.

Hi Carla ~O) THX on the pics! it was such a pretty day here, had to go out, camera in tow. Today was great too - THX! I know on Lola... she has gotten out before, snuck out, and she just runs EVERYWHERE! If she'd just stay in her yard, but noooooooooo.....  Yes on the mudslide - terrible times for that very small town. I feel for them.

Hi Wendy ~O) THX on the pics. Me too n the flowering trees - I can remember being in Vancouver in the spring once, I do remember those trees - it was so pretty. Very cool on your hummingbirds - that is so cool. For us, well Nicholas, that means berry picking will begin soon. He could not get enough of that last year. THX on today - it was GORGEOUS! Yes on the slide - it is awful, and extremely unstable and dangerous. Some sections are still moving, it is huge and very deep. I feel for those folks there. This will not be easily repaired. I haev a hike location that is just off of one of the sides of the slide, near French Creek Road. Kinda scary when one things about it. --- Me too on Lola on a leash. I think this is worth exploring some, if for the entertainment value alone.
