Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. I dropped Cinco at UCD at 9:00 am and at 6:30 pm Dr. Moore called to say I could pick him up in about an hour. We got home around 9:00 pm.

The good news is that Cinco came through all the tests and procedures and anesthesia well. He got a thorough going over and was seen by too many specialists to count, including a cardiologist and neurologist. He had lots of tests, including a SPEC fPL to rule out pancreatitis, an echocardiogram, biopsies and stains and the CT scan of his head, neck and chest. They found a bunch of minor issues, but nothing else that would explain his current decline. While we won't have a definitive diagnosis until the results of the biopsies come back, they did an impression smear from the sample of cells in his nasal passages, and all the vets agree that it is extremely probable that the lymphoma has returned. :( Dr. Moore gave him a shot of an enzyme called Elspar, which has anti-tumor properties, and a shot of steroids. I will be giving him 5 mg of Pred a day starting tomorrow night. Dr. Moore said that Elspar helps cats with lymphoma in 30-60% of cases (the success rate is higher with dogs). We will know in 24-48 hours if it is going to help Cinco. If he is better by Sunday, I'll call Monday to schedule an appointment at the end of the week for a re-evaluation and first chemo treatment (assuming the biopsies have come back with the expected results). If he is not better by Sunday, we will need to make the hard decision. I don't want to give up on him, but I also do not want him to be miserable, and he is miserable right now. Please keep the vines and prayers coming that the Elspar helps him.

Dr. Moore said Cinco probably wouldn't want food tonight, but he was awake when I gave Harvey his +3.5 snack, so I offered him some baby food and he gobbled it down. I waited about 45 minutes to make sure he kept it down, then gave him the rest of the jar (with his supplements). He's asleep on the sofa right now, which is a good thing, but if he starts laying by his water dispense again I will give him fluids.

Harvey's appy wasn't very good this morning, so I gave him some Ondansetron and Cypro before I left to take Cinco to UCD and left him a very full plate of food. When I got back about 2 hours later, the food was gone! :) I left around +5.5 to have lunch in Sac with an old friend and run some errands, and when I got home at PMPS time, his plate was again empty. He has eaten about half of his dinner so far.

Sorry to post so late, but I had to get Cinco settled and Harvey fed, etc. Thanks again for all the visits to yesterday's condo and the good wishes.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Special vines and prayers for Crystal and Suki. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Tricia, I'm so sorry you are again fighting lymphoma. I don't know that it ever really leaves. When Tiffany was treated she had Elspar. It took the full series of induction for her to start to feel better though. I'm beginning to understand why some oncologists continue chemo every 3 weeks for years. Hopefully the prednisolone will help too. It's good that he had an appetite today. I pray that he can battle yet again.

Vines for Harvey as well and hugs to you. All of LL is praying for both of your boys.

Prayers and vines for Cinco to improve and feel much better and that the Elspar works.

Vines, hugs and prayers for both boys. Cinco's been through a lot and is a fighter and hopefully the Elspar will work for him. We are all here with you and thinking of you Tricia:bighug:

I am so sorry to hear that Cinco may have to fight lymphoma again. Fingers and paws crossed for the Elspar to help! Sending prayers and tons of healing vines for him, and for Harvey as well. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Tricia... Cinco is really a fighter and so are you! We are sending tons of strength and hugs to you both:bighug:
So happy he is eating:cat:

Tricia

I am sending a ton of prayers hoping the Elspar works and then the chemo can start and help Cinco.

Many hugs for you, my friend. And extra hugs for your boys.

(((Tricia))) I'm praying that the Elspar will work for sweet Cinco, and that he will feel better soon. It's so hard to watch our furbabies feel miserable:(:(. Mega heal and feel good vines have been sent, and hugs to you and DH!

I'm glad to hear that Harvey is eating pretty good. More appy and feel good vines to him, as well. Give some scritches and kisses to the kitties from me.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Jumping on the vine train here too! I'm so sorry to hear about dear Cinco. Many vines and purrs coming your way! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
