Good morning, Lantus Land! Today is Baby’s 10th Birthday!

Sadi & I are sooooooo very excited to celebrate every bit of Baby: Fabulous, furbaby, PURRfection!

I rescued Baby Cakes from a Shelter when she was just a tiny kitten

What a life lil momma has had.. at the age of 2.. escaped my place & got lost.. I hired a Pet Detective out of Atlanta WHO FOUND HER!!

A lot happened between then & 2009...our next scary situation….
Baby always liked to drink out of the bathroom faucet & truth be told.. I did not pay much attention to how much she was drinking/playing.. just left it always at a slow drip.. until one day I came home from work & their water bowl was completely empty!! I thought no way.. they are cats.. they don’t drink like that.. but the carpet was not wet (thinking one of them turned the bowl over) so I left for work again one day that week & came home to an empty water bowl again!! I knew… took her to our vet & she had a blood panel done.. diagnosed in December 2009 with a blood glucose of 497!! Found FDMB & they saved her/my life. She was on the juice for 3 months.. then OTJ nearly 8 months & now back for a little over 3 months!
For those of you that do not know what an idiot I was.. Baby’s 1st day on Insulin.. FDMB advised to begin her dose at .5… I SHOT 5 UNITS thinking it was .5 :shock:!!

Overdosed Lil Momma & we ended up at the ER VET on our very first day in Lantus Land..

You guys certainly have gone through a lot together, but always seem to come through it like champs .. I hope that baby has a wonderful birthday with her momma and sadi!!!

Nicole I always love popping into Baby's condo and reading about her. I never knew these things. What a heart tug I had reading about the pet detective finding her. Maverick escaped the house once for three days and I was an absolute wreck. That Pet Detective is a hero.

I didn't know about your first day in Lantus Land either. Going from that to handling a 29 like it was a walk in the park is impressive. You and Baby do make a great team. Here's to many more birthdays Baby!!!!

Thanks for sharing Baby's story Nicole. I remember... especially your first day on LL! I remember the .5u vs the 5.0u. What an introduction to it all you two had. Survivors, the both of you. And looks at her today - amazing, and my hat goes off to you both. Job well done all around.

Good lord i need a drink! i just read through Baby's first day and YIKES! what a ride! so glad you both survived to tell about it.

Great story, Nicole, I didn't know you had used a pet detective to find Baby. (Didn't realize Beautiful Baby was a rescue, either!) She is a miracle baby, for sure.

But you both were strong and got through it very well.

This is a very happy day for your sweet girl. Cake for everyone! (except diabetics :lol: )

That is amazing about the pet detective.

Nicole - I missed that it was a link to your first day on Lantus. I just finished reading your thread. Wow. I am so impressed!!!!! No wonder you can handle a 29 without flinching now. I have never seen a six page thread on LL either.

I remember that nail-biting time with Baby. I never tire of seeing her pretty little face (though obviously it would be nice for her to find her way back to the Falls again).

Didn't know about the story of the Lost Baby... or the story of your first day in LL!!! Wow!!! Baby and Sadi both are so blessed to have such a wonderful bean. You are their angel!!! Hope you guys have had a great day!
