Stella's Condo

Good Morning!

Stella was up two hours early today... meowing away and having a little fun on her own I guess... she didn't try to knudge me awake... it was just her big meows that were relentless. I know it wasn't pain, because Boo didn't budge from the bed and try to 'rescue' her. Sure enough... all she wanted was her injection and her food. She was a tad bit high this am. I think she must know we are taking off for the vet to check her blood pressure today.

The vet may or may not have mixed up Stella's paperwork with another kitty and the numbers were not transfered to her chart. So why I have to pay for a tech visit to straighten it out is beyond me. They get this one time and then moving forward I may have to go to another office. As you know, the vet is trying to decide with all of the data if Stella's kidneys are in distress or not, and if she has hypertension. Honestly though, I think Stella is just fine and he thinks all diabetic kitties must have some other problem. Stella hit a nice BG of 78 last night at +4 before I went to bed.

Have a nice Saturday!

Good luck at the vet today. I hope you get everything straightened out. I hope Stella slides down for you today and the vet visit doesn't keep her BG high.

Thanks carfurby! I think it will work itself out with the BGs. I just don't want the blood pressure thing to point to anything problematic. Please cross your fingers for Stella that her diabetes is all we have to worry about...

The vet went fine. I think all of the dogs made my and Stella's heart race. The first set of 3 dogs were well behaved and one of them was the largest dog I had ever seen. They then took Stella in to get her blood pressure checked.

Stella's Blood Pressure was high @ 200 like last time, so the vet decided to prescribe her Amlodipine Besylate. He doesn't want her kidneys or cornea's to start getting damaged. We are going to administer this med for two weeks and then we are going back for a check up.

While waiting to pay another group of 3 dogs entered the office. They were the most misbehaving group I had ever seen. They were controlling the humans who were not even reprimanding them for the howling and running around. One woman was being dragged about by one of the dogs. My family has dogs and I have never seen anything like this! Stella and I couldn't get out quick enough. I told the receptionist we had to get out before our BGs shot though the roof. Both Stella's and mine! I told her I would call her to make the two week follow up and the receptionist totally got it.

Nice slide to yellow. I'm glad all of the dogs at the vet didn't make Stella's BG go up. That sounds crazy. Hopefully the amlodipine will help get Stella's BP under control. I think that is the same medicine Michelle is giving Mannie for his high BP.

Thanks carfurby! Stella has now slid to 102 which means despite the dogs going crazy at the vet... Stella will still get to  today! Actually, Stella seems to be finally aclimating to the vet visits. Whew. Now if only I would.

Sorry to hear about the dog run-ins at the vet. I wish people would learn how to control their dogs a bit better. Glad to see that +4! Hope you guys had a nice rest of the day. We didn't get any more rain today, just lots of overcast clouds intermittent throughout the sunshine. Happy Caturday!
