@Wendy&Neko and @julie & punkin (ga) Thank you for the encouraging words last night. At +2 I think I finally figured out what the problem was. I had been feeding Wellness Chicken during the day and I think Sammy has trouble with Chicken as well as Duck. I thought it would be okay since I had been giving him Wellness Beef and Chicken, but apparently it was too much Chicken for him. It is really amazing how much the type of food can affect the BG, even when it is low carb.

I am much happier with AMPS this morning. Hopefully we will see a much better day today.

AMPS to +3 numbers were looking okay this morning, but when I went home to test at +6 he was at 137. I think he has mostly been eating 0% food this morning, so I did give him a bit of 8% for a snack at +6 to see if that will stimulate his pancreas. I am going to try to get home again this afternoon at +9 to see where he is. I did leave out a bit of 8% along with the 4% and 5% that I was feeding him this morning with the 0%. I didn't give him any 0% as he tends to eat that first and then leaves the rest for later, which is sometimes eats and sometimes doesn't.

I think we need to increase back to .75u tonight. I need some advice on this.

Last night Sammy did drop back down into the 60's for nadir, but these higher daytime numbers are not good. I had really hoped to see a better number at +9 than at +6 today, but that didn't happen. Sammy did eat about 1 hour before this test, so I am really hoping that the rise is due to the 8% that he at around +8. I guess I need to wait to see what PMPS is, but if it is higher than +9 I am almost certainly thinking we need to increase. And even if it is a bit lower I think we might need to increase. Obviously if it is in the GREEN then everything will be thrown out the window again.

Well, we did increase back to .75u tonight. With a PMPS of 208 I just didn't want him to go any higher. I also give fluids tonight in hopes that it would help bring the number down a bit.

Also, we went back to strict MiniMeals. Since last Thursday when Sammy stopped going to work with me I become a little relaxed on the meals and how they were dispensed because I was nervous that he wouldn't eat when I wasn't home and he would in turn go too low. Apparently that plan is not working for us so we are back to strict MM, weighed out and so forth. I hope that we see some improvement tonight and tomorrow. I just don't understand what is going on. He really hasn't seen numbers this high since he was on a much higher dose and he has been holding steady with the reduction.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Now that the increase has been done, we'll see what happens. It may take a day or so for you to see any improvement because the shed has to be re-balanced. You are working with a lot of variables and it is difficult to see exactly what is causing what. What were your criteria for taking him down to .5? (I only see 1 number under 50 at the .75 unit dose.)

Good luck with the increase. How is Sammy doing other than his numbers? The "whole cat" is important.

Have a good evening, Tina,

Ella & Rusty
