Good Morning! This bean, and all kittehs fell asleep before 9pm last night. Marco woke up around 3am (+9) talking, civvie Angel went to ask him to please be quite and Marco punched him, and chased him into the bedroom. How dare the civvie child tell Marco to hush :lol: I gave Marco a snackus and we all went btb.

Very chatty Marco this morning. He's doing his morning exercise and I am sure soon enough he'll bring me his toys. :smile:

Question... do kitties have allergies? I think Marco has some allergies. He's been sneezing, this morning his eyes seem pretty red, and he also started coughing just a tad. I ask this because last night DF and my eyes started bothering us, and it was allergies. Do kitties have antihistamines?

No advice on the allergies, but I had a nice laugh at Marco and your civvie Angel! How dare Marco punch a cat named Angel? :lol: I'm sure others will be by to help with the allergies question. Have a nice day.

My Gordo has seasonal allergies. He sneezes like crazy during pollen season....like 3/4 of people here in town :lol: :lol: You know what they say "If you have lived here long enough, you will become allergic to something" LOL!

I think that my cat Mischief has food allergies. I have noticed that when I feed her fish, that she overgrooms and has little bumps on her.

I certainly do think they can have allergies. can use OTC benadryl ($ store brand same and cheap) or walmart cheap brand chlortrymaton (chlor tabs) or ($ store) zyrtec, the generic, you get more than 5 in the box with their brand

I've given Gabby L-lysine when she gets sneezy. It's an immune system enhancer. If you think Marco may have allergies, I'd talk to your vet about an antihistamine and dose before administering anything.

Good morning, they sure do! Sadi gets a touch every year & as Dian said.. her Vet just says to get the Cholor Tabs (Equate WalMart Brand), very cheap & one pill is all she needs & not everyday. One thing I will mention - the pills are tiny but not coated so that can cause some cats not to swallow easily & you may have luck with pill pockets, ECID - both my kittes refuse pill pockets.

I use chlortabs for Tinkles' sneezing, OTC and it works fine for him. However, I agree with Sienne....always check with your vet before giving any new medication, including OTC meds.

I would also make sure it's not a URI before giving an antihistimine...it can cause more problems.

Ain't that the truth, and don't you love how you won't have a certain season allergy, but yet the very next year suddenly you do! :roll:


Thank you all for your input. My poor Marco baby, I haven't recalled him having allergies, but then again I didn't have very many either in the past... we will get him checked out to see if it is allergies or if it's something else. I'm gonna have to rename Marco "Vacation Fund" :lol:

Finally an evening to ourselves! Past few night's we've had people over :dizcat I love people, and the kitties love having new laps to sit on, but some nice quiet time is heaven! purry baby, the grandbeans said marco laid a stinker when they were here...and didn't cover up :roll: i told him he never does.

Marco saved our diabetic friend last night, and well actually over the weekend too! He's Canadian, just graduated college and we're basically his family. He's been diabetic since he was a kid (type 1) and over the weekend he was at our place and started to shake, we used Marco's tester (Marco did not approve and didn't leave the testing site until he was tested too :lol: ) sure enough he was low. Then last night he called me to ask if he could use some of Marco's insulin, his family was sending him some from Canada, but it won't get here til tomorrow... so I asked Marco, and Marco said it would be okay. :razz: Who woulda thought, our little sugarbaby would come to the rescue? He told Marco thank you, and that he'd pay him back. :-D
 
Awww Celia, what a nice story about helping your diabetic friend. 'Twas good of Marco to allow his 'stuff' to be used too. :-D
