Morning! I think last night definitely was a fur shot, and I've discovered it's this Bean's fault. My left arm is weakened and loss of range of motion from the frozen shoulder problem. I've always been shooting with Maggie being wherever she is lounging, and it's not been a problem in the past. I have a hard time sometimes gathering enough scruff this way, so now I will start having her sit on the sofa where I can get a better handle/hold of the scruff. She's had good numbers, and then all of a sudden, wham. Regardless, she's feeling really and playful and feisty. She's sleeping on my cervical pillow and has taken it as her own. All P's in place. I have my last pt appointment, so at least I won't need to worry about Maggie dropping with the way she usually surfs. I'll catch up on some condos before I leave and then I return. Have a nice morning everyone.

I think you have a good plan to deal with furshots. They are so frustrating! I love that she's claimed your cervical pillow

Glad your PT is over today (I think).

Good morning guys .. sorry to hear about the furshot, but at least she's still blue for you this morning ... plenty of time to surf the greens later on .. hope your last PT appointment goes well .. have a great day guys!

I think I'm still the champion fur-shot giver!! I have found that the best place to shoot is while they are eating, with their heads in their bowls. This worked great with Stu. It's more difficult with Rusty because his hair is so long and it takes a while to "find skin".

Hope your PT goes well today.

Thanks everyone for stopping by Maggie's condo and for all the fur shot tips. Ella, that may be a good way to grab the scruff is when they are eating. I picked up a new bottle of insulin and mentioned the bubbles problem in the syringe to the Pharmacist, so she had a couple tips. One was to insert as much air into the bottle as the amount of insulin, and I think that is a no no on the vial. Th other thing she mentioned was that it should only be used for 28 days even though my Vet disagrees. Well, we shall see how Maggie does tonight between a better aim and the new insulin! I'm so tired from PT. The Physical therapist said to do the exercises for the shoulder at home and then see if I need more pt per seeing the doctor. We started out working on the neck arthritis which is what the script was for originally. The shoulder and arm were getting worse as the neck got better, so he did tests and it indicated frozen shoulder. So he squeezed some pt in on the shoulder which was great. I've had this same pt twice before for shoulder and back.

Hi Ann - bummer on the fur shot - She'll recover from it soon. I too shoot when they are eating - it is easier with their head down in their bowls, and he is so preoccupied that he doesn't even notice. works really well for us.

Hope the new insulin helps Maggie bring those numbers down too.

I hope the PT is helping - it sounds like maybe it is? Good luck!

Hi Ann!

I had a client come in with a frozen shoulder - he'd been receiving cortisone shots once a week from the physiotherapist. After about 3 weeks of one-on-one training with a Pilates instructor, he no longer needed the shots and since then, (he's been coming for about a year) his shoulder is much improved.

Wouldn't hurt to do a consult - I know I'm kind've a Pilates-pusher, but it really does help! (The more info/documentation you can pass between pt and Pilates instructor the better)

Best,
Sarah.

Re: 3/23 Maggie PMPS 194

Hi again and thanks everyone for all the encouragement and tips on shooting. More than a few shoot while kitty is eating, so I'll give it a try. Well, I just opened the new insulin, so we'll see if it makes a difference. At least I don't need to worry about her going hypo on .25 units! I just opened up a can of FF Seafood Feast, and she licked the dish green. She seems hungry all the time on the high numbers. Thanks Sarah for the info on Pilates. That would be so much than the cortisone shots. I haven't yet had a shot this time but did in prior times when it flared.
