Good morning, LL. ~O)

Yesterday's Condo: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=115883

Catherine, Dwight, Liz, Julie, Tricia, and Carla ~ Thank you all for visiting us yesterday. You will all be happy to know that Jersey's plan for my demise did not work out. I am smarter than the average bear and was able to foil her attempts yesterday. :-D I was also finally able to get a ketone test (negative). Evil kitty made me wait for 20 minutes next to the litter box, but I got it!

Yesterday's Numbers:
AMPS - 372, .75 units
+5 - 354
PMPS - 421, .75 units
+4 - 141
+5.5 - 139
+6.5 - 136

The good news is that the bounce from Friday night only lasted one cycle, and we ended up throwing another PJ party last night. I'm afraid that I actually prevented a drop into the greens. She was just so hungry last night that I couldn't deny her demand for food. :YMSIGH:

Today:
AMPS - 365, .75 units
+4 - 338

Here's a question: Jersey has been seeing better numbers (almost) each night since the dosecrease and has only been bouncing during the day. Her previous bounces were lasting several cycles. Is this the result of her liver adjusting to the lower numbers and not panicking as much, or is it because we now have enough insulin in her to break the bounces more quickly? I don't know if that makes sense - or if it ultimately makes any difference. It's just a question I've had after looking at her SS.

My deepest condolences go out to Dyana on the loss of her sister.

I don't know that answer to your question, but you might want to put the ? icon on your first post so people see you have a question. I hope Jersey slides down today.

Re: 3/23 Jersey AMPS-365, +4-338

I'm glad you finally got that ketones test, tricky kitties! I've waited 5 hours for Chyna to go pee. I'd set the plastic wrap trap in her "pee" spot in the box and waited, and waited...and waited. Finally as I was going to get ready for bed in defeat, she peed. I can't tell you how many times that has happened, even worse when she pees in the wrong place instead of the "trap". She won't go if I'm anywhere near the box

I'm glad that there was no demise :o ! I feed Chyna mini meals throughout the cycle, but just a half one after nadir (we are dealing with stomach acid from CKD though too). That was quite a drop, Jersey! I hope your day is less exciting today ;-)

Hi Shelly,
I think the answer to your question is "both" and then there is a third answer: the cat does as he pleases and if he is consistent, fine, but if not, that's the way it is!

Wow on your coyotes. We have them here, too. I've seen their scat in the driveway. But when you live in rural areas you expect wild animals. We have a deer herd (about 7 deer) living a lot of the time in our wooded area. And we live in the village!

Have a good weekend. I hope Jersey will even out his numbers.

I think you can add one more item to Jersy's to do list:
  • - DRop at night and drive the bean crazy through sleep deprivation.

Good work on getting the ketone test, it's always tricky for us too. At least until we got the Breeze litter box

I was also finally able to get a ketone test (negative).

I want to know what happened to that students paper you got mixed up with the strip. ;-)

Good evening, LL!

Thanks for stopping by today, everyone!

Carla ~ Thanks for the suggestion. I hated to put a question mark on my post. It really isn't a significant question, and I know there are others on the board with more pressing questions than my own!

Rachel ~ I have often wondered about trying a pee trap for Jersey. With two other civies, I'm worried I might end up testing the wrong pee. Luckily I'm on spring break now and can stalk the little angel to the lb all day long!

Ann ~ Good catch on the plot for my demise. I do believe sleep deprivation could be a part of Jersey's master plan. If I wasn't so sleep deprived, I would have thought of that myself! :-D

Ella ~ Thanks for your interpretation of Jersey's consistent inconsistencies. Whatever the reason for her shortened bounces, I'll take 'em. It's so much better than the multi-day bounces we were seeing.

It's pretty common to see deer here, too. We're not far off the highway in a "sort of" town. (If you blink while driving through, you'll miss it.) We usually see deer every couple of weeks, although we find tracks in the yard more often than that.

Dwight ~ Luckily, the papers were graded before I ever caught the kitty in the box. Thank goodness. How do you explain the smell of urine when you hand back a paper? :-D

Today's numbers:
AMPS-365, .75 units
+4 - 338
PMPS - 324, .75 units
+3 - 289

Ah, that poor sensitive Mr Liver, issues....always issues.
So sorry we missed the PJ party last night. Jersey appears to be giving you Sunday night off, what a sweetheart.

Quite often, a little more insulin...to the right dose....will help smooth out the bouncing. But if you get too much, it can cause them to drop and then bounce even more. So it's a fine line.

Looks like Jersey is getting close.

And glad you managed to foil her. After all...she needs you.
