WCR: Buzz seems fine. She is lazing around, alternating between open windows.

I am concerned that there is something else going on that is causing her high numbers. As Helene pointed out yesterday, the shed on 0.3u is very tiny and should have been filled by now (this morning is the 9th cycle on 0.3u). The last thing I can afford right now is a trip to the vet, but I guess I will have to find a way to take her to see if there's an infection. Any thoughts on this or other things that could be causing her BGs? Do we just need to keep raising the dose instead of trying the vet just yet? I hate for her to sit in high #s if there is something we could be doing about it.

No symptoms of anything that I can tell. With 3 kitties, I am not able to tell as much about their individual peeing and pooping habits as I'd like, plus Buzz is very sneaky about going to the LB. I always had a hard time catching her for ketones, and it's the same for examining pee clump size. Any other symptoms to look for?

Re: 3/23 Buzz AMPS: 321/Dose question!

how is her appetite? is she eating normally?
if you can follow her to the lb - is she peeing/pooing normally? straining to go? anything?

The thing with kitties is you can't always tell if they aren't feeling well. Many times they don't show symptoms. So the best you can do, is go down the check list of possibilities and start ruling things out.

Like inappetance, problems with LB, dental problems, etc.

Re: 3/23 Buzz AMPS: 321/Dose question!

Sarah --

It looks like when you started using a new meter Buzz's number were higher. Could you do a couple of comparison checks with your old meter? It may be that the numbers are due to the difference between the meters -- some run higher or lower overall than other meters.

Re: 3/23 Buzz AMPS: 321/Dose question!

Hillary- I will see if I can be successful at stalking the kitty to the LB. :) I just cleaned both LBs out and she is up here with me so maybe she will go soon. Who ever thought they would be hoping for kitty urine? :P She has her normal great appetite and doesn't seem to have any problems chewing her food or the Liv-A-Littles, which are a harder consistency than her food.

Sienne- I just did a reading with both meters (ReliOn is the "new" one and OTU is the old one) and the OTU was actually 41 pts. higher. I know the differences are greater at higher numbers. I will get a few more comparison tests in today to see if I can see a pattern. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: 3/23 Buzz AMPS: 321/Dose question!

I think Buzz is due for a drop more, but let me bump you so you get more input....

Re: 3/23 Buzz AMPS: 321/Dose question!

Thanks Helene and Sienne! I am thinking to move to 0.5u and skip 0.4u totally. Does this seem reasonable? It's so hard to measure we may be getting 0.5u anyway. :P

Her #s haven't moved all day.

+4: 272 (Relion)/313 (OTU)
+6: 283 (Relion)/354 (OTU)

For clarity's sake, the Relion is the new meter we switched to on 3/14 and OTU is the one we had been using prior to that.
