Good Monday Morning Everyone,

180 at AMPS--that is a record!! I hope we're not in for another wild day! Cold and damp here today. Stu didn't even want to go out for his morning exploration. Good thing to keep the would-be predator inside, because we have a flock of white-throated sparrows here this morning (very early for these birds; when we lived in Brooklyn a flock always spent their winters with us and they never began their northward journey to their breeding area until May!). Stu enjoyed his breakfast, which included the last of his home-cooked chicken (I boiled a small piece of chicken for Stu yesterday and he loved it; now he expects it!). Good litterbox activity. Much lower water consumption and urine production these days. Stu was out yesterday exploring alongside the garage. He dug 4 holes about a foot apart and peed a little in each one to "mark" his territory! In the old days of high bg he contributed a lot more pee when pursuing this "activity"! I'm so pleased that he is getting healthy.

Everyone have a good day,
Ella & Stu

Re: 3/22 Stu AMPS 180(!!)

Looks like a wonderful start to the day for Mr. Stu!! Keep up the good work and the lower numbers, My Man!!

You know, with all the time Spot spends outside, I have never seen him do his business there. Always comes inside to use the LB...Had to laugh, tho, at Stu making his own potty outside...funny little kitty!!

Have a good day you guys!!

Whhat a great WCR!! Stu seems to be flourishing!! We are birders and have 5 feeders--Going to claim the birds as dependents on my taxes!!
Stu, nice blue amps today--No trouble, OK??? Have a good Monday!

Re: 3/22 Stu PMPS 170, +4 62 eyes please!

Hi All. I hope someone is awake and can advise. Huge drop for Stu at PMPS +4 (62) at a time he usually either rises, or has a small drop. I fed him a teaspoon of MC and his usual bedtime meal of EVO wet (about 2 tablespoons). I can get another reading in an hour, but then I have to get to sleep. I can leave food out for him. Advice is much appreciated!

Re: 3/22 Stu PMPS 170, +4 62 eyes please!

There are still a few people who are awake (lol!!)

You're doing fine. I'm curious about why you fed the MC. My hunch is that LC would have been just fine. I'd probably suggest you test at +4.5 so you know where Stu is headed, especially if you want to get to sleep soon. I generally like to see 2 tests that confirm either a surf or rising number.

Re: 3/22 Stu PMPS 170, +4 62 eyes please!

Thank you, Sienne! He is 67 at about +4.6. I'll get another reading in 20 minutes or so. I fed the MC because he has never been this low at this time of night and I was worried. He gobbled both the little bit of MC and the normal serving of LC. I'll be back in a little while. Thank you so much for being awake at this hour (but it occurs to me that you are on Central Time, so it is earlier for you!)

Re: 3/22 Stu PMPS 170, +4 62, +5.25 49 eyes please!

Still dropping: 49 at +5.25, but during the daytime we would be approaching his nadir, so I think all will be OK. I gave him a mixture of MC/LC (eaten enthusiastically). Thanks, Roni, for looking in, and thanks again, Sienne. I'll do another test in a half hour and then trust Stu to take care of himself. He's tired of these tests!

Re: 3/22 Stu PMPS 170, +4 62, +5.25 49 eyes please!

Just a thought for you to consider...

If you hadn't fed the MC at +4 and instead fed LC, chances are that Stu would have been in the lower numbers little sooner and possibly earned the decrease. You clearly know how to steer the numbers with food. I probably would have given a LC snack at +4 and retested at +4.5. I would have given more LC if numbers were 50 or above and repeated the process. If you feed MC or HC too early, you risk aborting the cycle and there's no decrease. Given that Stu's not a new diabetic, he has to work really hard for dose reductions. I think you probably not only need BOS to shoot, with an established FD, you need those BOS to get a decrease, as well.

Sienne, I will copy your last post and put it in my "Stu file". Many thanks for the advice. I agree that I have to move up to the next step in FD care!!! Stu"s number is 53 at just about +6, so I think all will be fine. I put out some food for later. Thanks again for your help!
