Good morning!!! ~O) ~O) ~O)

Well, I read everyones post's from last night on how to get him to eat more, thank you for all of the advice. I am going to pick up the Fortiflora, I went to Pet Goods looking for it, they dont carry it, so I'll call around.

I know the Baytril tastes awful. Its in liquid form so I cant even out it in a pill pocket. I was told to give it to him on an empty stomach...it takes him 2 minutes to get over it and then he looks for food. But whatever I give him is just not the flavor of the day!!! I would say he ate about 8 oz yesterday. He's ketone negative right now, but I'm trying to keep those monsters away and so he needs more calories. If I opened up a can of his HC food he'd gulp it down in a heartbeat...he's just being picky....

On a good note, he was very playful last night and this morning. :-D :-D :-D Back to his normal self "attacking" my feet and getting a kick out of himself... stepping on my head, jumping into the kitchen cabinet...lol...typical Sasha. dancing_cat

I hope every one has a great day!!! Hugs to you and your furbabies! :YMHUG:

I've never seen FortiFlora sold at a store. You're vet may stock it. However, there are a number of places (e.g. Amazon, PetFood Direct, Entirely Pets) where you can buy it online.

How about giving Sasha a syringe of water after the Baytril. I'm wondering if the taste of the Baytril is lingering in his mouth and he may associate the taste of the AB with his food.

Hi guys .. sorry to hear sasha is being so picky with food right now .. I think Sienne has a good idea, to do a syringe full of water after the meds .. cause he very well could be associating that taste with food .. you'll get it figured out! Have a great day!

Hey Sienne and Devon! I think that's a great idea!!! I'm going to try it tomorrow. Geez that stuff must taste awful!!!!!!!

punkin's vote was very clear - this stuff tastes REALLY bad. you know punkin is a hoover. he'll eat almost anything. but that baytril . . . yikes. i hope the water chaser helps the little guy.

Ughhh Julie, I hope so, I feel bad but he's gotta take that stuff. He's making me crazy with this food. I'm going to try the water chaser.. because Im going to need to do a shot followed by a beer chaser...

How long was Punkin on the stuff? Im telling you, Sasha's claws never come out....that stuff has to taste awful.

i only got one dose down him. he walked around drooling, foaming, vomiting all over the dining room. one dose was enough.

the suggestion from here was that it wasn't the best AB for a dental infection anyway - so we went to clindamycin. that can be given in pill pockets, and punkin now loves them. the first 18 days on the clindamycin i wrapped them in pill pockets and shoved them down his throat. on day 18 he woke up and said "hey, let me taste that myself!" i've been wrapping and throwing pills on the floor ever since. it's awesome.

I gave Sid his baytril pills in pill pockets - and he ate them no problem :)

Sorry Sasha isn't liking the compounded baytril. It is the worst when they walk around drooling -Sid does that and it is a miserable mess.
