Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty has been doing so well and I had to give another fur shot this morning! It didn't feel or look like a fur shot until I smelled the insulin and felt some wet: so it must have gone straight through and come out the other side. Ugh!
Good night last night. I think the small bedtime snack of FF works to keep the AMPS in better numbers! Rusty is apprehensive this morning because he sees that I am getting my stuff together for the snowshoe climb. And Edward has yoga this morning. But he'll be home in mid morning and the boys will have a nice day.

Hope you all have a good day, too. It's cold and gray here, but may clear a bit later. I hope so, because the view from the top of St. Regis Mt. is really terrific in every direction.

Back by +9.5 or so.

Morning you three! I think I've done a couple fur shots myself lately, too! I try to shoot Maggie where she is so as not to disturb, and not such a good idea with klutzy Bean. Enjoy your snowshoe climb - is this a hike?

:sad: It's so sad when you realize the needle went in and came out the other side....I remember watching the insulin dripping down Shadow's fur....so sad. I know how you feel. Anyway, I started shooting next to the tented skin instead of into it....if you can picture that...I tent the skin and then shoot parallel to it....with Rusty's long hair, it is a challenge though.

Hope you have a nice day today Ella....do be careful....how many people are going with you? Hope you will be able to see the view from the top....must be awesome. Did I sell my snowshoes at one of my garage sales? Hmmmm...can't seem to find them around here.....I thought that IF I could find them, I might just surprise you and come for the hike....

I never owned climbing gear or a snowboard either...guess it's a good thing too! Would have been a giant waste of money!!! :lol: Be careful!! And I hope you have a GREAT time!!! :mrgreen:

Ella, I agree with you about the small bedtime snack keeping their amps down. I have experimented with Tessie, and confirmed the results. She gets hers usually around 11pm or midnight. Sorry about the fur shot, but at least he has a nice low amps. Have a fun day!

Morning guys! Well bummer on the fur shot - :sad: but - Rusty always recovers from them quickly. I expect he'll be back on track after his shot tonight.

Enjoy the snowshoe - and I hope you have clear weather. Nothing beats a mountain views. :-D

Interesting on the bedtime snack for Rusty. What time to you feed that? I wonder if something like that would help Mannie with his morning amps. I dunno - Rusty is a bit more regulated than Mannie is.

yuck on the fur shot Elle, but it happens and Rusty will bounce right on back with hardly a blimp. His amps looks wonderful tho, so there is something to smile about!

Have fun on your adventure today. My adventure will consist of sitting here at my desk until time to go home....then trying to figure out what's wrong with the pool when I go home :cry: In the past three days, the pool has almost emptied out....and I saw a nice hole on the metal part of the pool that was not there when I closed it down (looks like someone shot it with a bebe gun). I know that's not the culprit since the water is much lower than the hole, but it's the principle of the matter....oh well....Have a great day!!!!!!

As Sienne said, no worries for you to go out today. Have a wonderful time playing in on the snow. :-D

Hi All,
Back again after a challenging climb. The snow was deep, but crusty at the same time. The day was snowy (granular snow that was almost like small hail). We pushed on and reached the summit of St. Regis Mt., where the view was quite dramatic, if impinged by the cloud cover (see attached photo: looking south). There were 4 of us women, all in our 60s and early 70s. It's great to be able to do stuff like this (at my age!!). The climb/hike was approx. 7.5 miles round trip and quite steep in spots. My GPS on my phone wasn't working: couldn't get a satellite signal (tree cover too dense, I guess). Disappointing!
The "boys" had a great play and grooming this afternoon. Rusty played so vigorously that he moved his cube half-way across the floor! +10 was 105, not ideal, but OK for a fur shot this morning. I'll be interested to see what PMPS is.

Back later. I hear that Mocha's party last night was fantastic fun.

Your climb sounds amazing! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy it!

PMPS is pretty good and the shot went in! Hooray!!

I thought I should clarify my remark about FF Turkey & Giblets at bedtime. I only give him 1 small teaspoon of the FF, the rest of his bedtime "snack" is a regular (about 2 oz.) meal of Wellness Turkey. Rusty free feeds. He eats most of this bedtime food between +5 and +6, but might save some and eat it at around +9 (this is what I aim for; but because he free feeds, I don't use the auto feeder). And if there is some left in the morning, he gobbles it down right before AMPS. This is probably not an ideal feeding schedule, but it works OK for us. The thing about the FF is that even though it is only 3% (I think), it seems to raise his bg level. So I'm experimenting to see if a little of it at bedtime will keep AMPS a little lower (i.e., avoid the morning "bounce").

WOW! On the 113 - after a fur shot - i would take than any day!

and thanks for the clarification on the FF as a treat. I wondered how you did that - what time etc, cuz I did think Rusty free fed... I would like to find something that will help lower Mannie's amps - but dunno.

Very nice snowshoe adventure! Sounds so very nice. Kudos to you! Us "seniors" gotta show the youngin's how its done. :lol: I am glad you had a great time Ella - it sounds fabulous!
