Happy Monday everyone! We're still building Emma's shed after starting on Friday night, but so far I've seen more yellows on the sheet than I have in months, so I'm hopeful we're on the road to blues and greens. :)

Boy, pulling 1.0 U is hard to do after pulling 3.0 for months! I need to get better at these tiny doses!

Re: 3/22 Emma AMPS 235

Nice to see you already in the yellows. I know what you mean about the 1 unit being so tiny. We switched the same time as you, but we switched from PZI. We were giving 8 units on the u-100 syringes, so 1 unit feels like nothing. Every time it gets a little easier. I hope Emma continues to do well and gets great numbers after her shed is full.

Re: 3/22 Emma AMPS 235

Our numbers on Vetsulin looked a lot like your numbers on PZI. It worked for awhile and then it just seemed to stop working. Frustrating. Fingers crossed that Blackie starts seeing some yellows soon. It's nice to have a switching buddy on here :)

Re: 3/22 Emma AMPS 235

This period with the switchover is hard and it will try your patience. Stick with it. Hopefully, in a few more days you'll start seeing more blue.

Re: 3/22 Emma AMPS 235

Welcome to LL..

Hopefully Emma and Lantus agree with each other. I don't know what your SS looked like on vetsulin.. but if it was anything like your AMPS and PMPS on the day of the switch after months on 3U.. you could have some wild fun times on Lantus! :) Think of the shed filling time as Emma giving you a nice period of getting used to drawing 1U.. to prepare you for the ridiculously tiny increases/decreases that will come in the weeks/months to follow ;).

Re: 3/22 Emma AMPS 235

Thanks for the warning, Dawn! On Vetsulin we were good for about 4 months (AMPS low 200s, Mid-day 80s, PMPS 175s) and she felt good too. Then we started seeing 400s, 450s, and it just wouldn't drop much during the day. I'm just hoping that we can get her feeling better again and I think she seems to be. I think you're right about the roller coaster ride: she was 346 at +5 today. Argh!

Could be a bounce if she's been in the 400s for a while.. you're going to hear it anyways, so I'll start you off gentle .. it's really important to get as much spot checks as you can (maybe you are getting more and they aren't in your SS? don't see your +5).. esp when in (at least in the last while) new territory.. decent chance she was in the blues while you were sleeping.. possibly blue enough it could have freaked you out a little bit ;)..and that could be quite the shock to her adorable system :). The more BGs you can get, the quicker you can get her back to the happy times you had before (or as I call them the "what's sleep?" times ;) ).

Of course could just be new insulin wackiness.. while Emma's body is learning the new insulin, you get to learn the new insulin patience :).

Edit: Just reread my post once I was off the phone.. think my type/talk on phone wording may not have been good! :) wasn't trying to suggest if you test her lots she won't bounce.. that would be silly :).. just saying if you test more you'll know when/if it's happening so her numbers make more sense.

Well, it looks like we are in the land of the purples. Boo. Hiss.

I will get up a couple times tonight and check her. She's scarfing down her FF right now.

hello!

the switch can be hard, but you'll be glad you did it. Try to get spot checks whenever you can, and *always* get a spot check before bed because that one check can give you a ton of information (like having one last night would help us see whether the 235 this morning was on its way up from a lower number, or if she surfed the 200's all night). I'm guessing she was lower last night, because the pinks today look like a bounce.
