Good Morning LL
In my nervousness about getting dressed and getting Checkers into carrier, I forgot to test this morning. *slaps head*
He is so suspicious, that anything I do differently from routine, will send him under the bed, and it's torture getting at him then.
I had to lock him in the bathroom, and he hid behind the hamper. He looked so pathetic.

Then got to the clinic to have reception tell me, he was supposed to be there yesterday.
Sure enough, the card said 21st, but both she and, Dr Dave, kept saying "Thursday", when I made the appt.
She wrote the wrong date on the schedule, and I was the one who kept apologizing, to keep the peace.
They did keep him, and luckily my favorite tech is working today, to do the dental. Hope Dave's not involved in a surgery, if Checks needs extraction.

Phooey, it'll cost me $15 just to test his glucose, 'cause I forgot to. I had to warn them, he's always high in the AM, so they dont panic. :-D

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Hope Checkers have a smoothe dental!
I usually have one of the carrier opened & left in the sitting room. My cats get used to running in & out of the carrier so it's easir to get them in when in need.

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Aw, it's OK....you had a lot on your mind, and Checks will be fine. I'm glad they were still able to take him today. What is with the vets and these mix-ups any more? (I won't start on that rant!!)

$15 is a bargain! When Trix had her dental last year, my vet checked her twice, at $35 a pop!!! I'm sure they were laughing all the way to the bank. And, on top of that, they bruised her poor little ears. Honestly, of all the things we over-pay the vets for, I think BG tests absolutely top the list.

Good dental thoughts, prayers, and vines to you guys!!

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Checkers had to have 3 extractions. Tech said they came out easily. I asked about boney fragments, etc. None.
He now has only the canines and tiny incisors left. She didn't think they looked bad enough to 'cause 'significant' pain.
Yeah, then why did she take them out? Hmph!
Bloodwork wasn't great. His kidney values are up slightly, from last time. Thyroid was good.
I'll talk to Dr Dave, when I pick him up this afternoon.

I apoligise for not getting to condos. I'm being selfish and hiding inside myself, 'cause my boy isn't here, and I am sad about his bloodwork.
Thank you for visiting his condo, and being bigger than I am.

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Good news about the teeth coming out easily. Don't get ahead of yourself about the kidney values right now....one step at a time, and you know lots of people can help you out with that sort of thing!

I'm sure you can't wait to have Checks back home with you...take it easy today!

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Yay for the dental being over! You are a great bean for Checkers. He is lucky to have you. I don't feel like visiting condos much when Zener is sick. I totally understand and that is just fine. Big hugs!
Liz

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Hi guys .. aww, I didn't realize checks was having a dental done today .. Glad it went over easy enough .. hoping with the three extractions his numbers come down for you .. Don't worry about the kidney values right now .. Talk to Dr Dave and see what's going on .. Give checks a hug and a kiss from us!

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: We all understand, it's hard to be supportive to others when your baby is sick and you are feeling down. I've missed a lot lately too.

I think a lot of older cats are borderline on the kidney values, but knowing is good because at this stage diet can do wonders.

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

Aw, chex...the KTSS will come by to help you get over the vetty visit...
and will bring their beans to help Barbie-Doll feel better as well!

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

You definitely had a lot going on this morning so no worries. You are a great bean and Checkers knows it. Glad the dental went well and your boy will be home before you know it! ((((Barb))))

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

can't wait for Checkers and Rupert to share notes on dentals!!! I know Rupert was like a different cat afterwards so I"m sure Checkers will follow suit since they seem to be psychic twins! take care! looking forward to updates on how you guys are doing.

Re: 3/22 Checkers ?...bad mom

I'm sure Checkers thinks you're the best mom in the world! I'm sorry you both had to go through this dental. They always scare me. It's going to be over soon and he'll be home cuddling with u.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Checks is happy to be home. He's been restless. Tech said to call if he didn't settle down and I was concerned. I just peeked at him....he's on the testing table resting. Whew!
His kidney values are up a little from last time.
Dr Dave would like to see him eat a lower protein food. He won't eat their kidney diet.
I went thru this last Fall, and settled on Fancy Feast, because that's what he'd eat. :YMSIGH:

Re: 3/22 Checkers pmps 430

Awww, Carolyn, that gave me a lump in my throat. :-D

Thank you for all the visitors and well wishers in Checks' condo today. I needed it. :-D

Re: 3/22 Checkers pmps 430

Hi Barb and Checkers,
I'm sorry that Checks had to lose some teeth. No fun! Rusty will be along with the KTSS this evening with a nice pot of chicken soup (some for you, too) and some catnip sorbet to soothe his sore mouth. I'm sure that you will get the kidney values under control with appropriate food. There are many people here who can help you with that.

Have a better evening!! Things will settle down and Checks will be much better tomorrow. Did Dr. Dave give you anything for pain?

Was it really 90 in your area today? Wow! This weather is unbelievable.

Lots of :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: s to you and Checkers,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/22 Checkers pmps 430

Ella, when I picked up Checks this afternoon, it was 88F.

We got sent home with bupe, and it was bupe for the surgery. Checkers has settled down nicely and is eating soupy stuff well.
For some reason, he is being very affectionate since he got home. Must be the anesthesia and pain meds, dulled his snotty side.

Re: 3/22 Checkers pmps 430

Barb ^ Sweet Checkers!!! OMG I didnt remember he was having a dental today!!
3 extractions arent too bad--Did you get bupe for him for pain??
AB's to prevent infection?--Just dont let him eat too fast, you dont want a scarf & barf---

Sending healing dental vines, Love & Hugs to our buddy Checks--Loves Ya kitty! You too Barb!

Re: 3/22 Checkers pmps 430

Barb --

One of Marje's cats has renal issues. She's very knowledgeble. You may want to look for some foods that are low in phosphorus.

I remember this about Trix after her dental last year...she was ALL about the luv. I felt like I was at Woodstock!

Ann's Maggie also has renal issues...she may also be able to help point you in a good food direction. Remember, you're part of LL - you are NOT alone!

Beautiful picture, Carolyn!
