Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. ADVICE PLEASE!!

Hmm .. when mocha goes this low, I am both happy AND scared! But remember, you know what to do!

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. ADVICE PLEASE!!

Test every 15 minutes, while holding the bottle of Karo? Oy Vey!
Devon, I see that you've survived lower numbers than that with Mocha, so I guess I will too.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54

you will survive! I don't bring out the karo until I neeeeeeeeeeeeed to .. most of the time HC gravy will do the job ...

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54

I had the gravy FF ready, but decided to be a big girl, and not panic; sure enough, the LC did the trick.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54

Today
175..ps
44 +3.5
68 +4
75 +5

Gee, I wish it would stay put for a while. He ate at plus 3.5, so I guess some of that is food spike.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54..+5/75

Great job managing the numbers. Congrats on the dose reduction. Checkers' new dose will be 0.5u.

FYI: If you want to include all of your test data on your SS, you can take a look at how I do this with Gabby. It's one way to handle the info. You will need to manually adjust the color coding when you have more data in each cell.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54..+5/75

OMG , I can reduce?
I didn't know I could manually control cell color, and I'm having a hard time with Google today. Thanks Sienne.
The rain is messing up my dialup...*sigh*....I live in a rural area, and have to do with what I can get.

I do get excited, don't I?

((Barb)) well looks like you are having a lot of action like me today! You should be excited! Scrabble's numbers were scaring me for a while when he got low but now I get excited because I know he is doing so well! Congrats on the dosecrease! Hope your day goes welll!!! Is the lump in your throat from your condo or mine or both? LOL!

Barb -

I may have misspoken. I just looked and Checkers was diagnosed in 2/2009, right? Normally, the drop would need to be below 40 in a cat that was diagnosed more than a year ago. It seems like this is a miss by under a month. I suspect if we'd thought about it and asked you to hold off on feeding, the numbers would have been in the 30s. Let me see what others think. (I'm wondering if you were to skinny the dose if that would be an adequate job of sitting on the fence.)

Michelle, it was for you and Scrabble, that I was so happy

So, I will shoot at sliiiiiightly less than .75? Uhhhh, I can barely make out .75.
Time to go look at Steve & Jock's photos.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175. +3/44. +3.45/54..+6/87

Hey Barb, was just looking at your ss and looks like Scrabble and Checkers were diagnosed around the same time! Oops as I was reading again I saw it was 2009! Sorry! This process is so scary huh? I am glad both of our kitties are doing so well!!! I will be watching you guys for sure!!! Have a great day!

Barb -

I think it's your call on the reduction. You could either shave the dose or take the full decrease. I think it depends on how conservative you want to be.

Re: 3/22 Checkers amps 175.+3/44..pmps 128

I didn't tell the exact truth about when Checkers was diagnosed, just when it was really 'offficial'.
He was refused a dentistry on Sept '08', because his sugar was high. He had to suffer for a whole month with FORLs in his mouth, until we got the sugar down.....on Glip.
I didn't realize at that time, that pain can raise bg. It was a long time coming to the diagnosis, because he was up and down.
It was in Feb 09, that I found this board, and got him on low carb food. Now the vets at my clinic are adament about putting cat on LC, but no one 'got it' at that time.
I am going to look for the link to his profile in the old board.

I've got an hour and a half to decide what to do. I don't want him low during the night, but bg raises at night, so we probably will be ok with the tiny decrease.
Think Barby, think!!

Barb, you're doing wonderfully! I get scared at low numbers, too! (For the 4 years Stu was not being home-tested I didn't get scared because I didn't know if numbers were low or high, or even what they meant!) So carry on with what you are doing and try to get some sleep, too!
