Good morning all,
I'm trying a .25 reduction today.

Yesterday viewtopic.php?f=9&t=115813

3/21 Cliffs Notes
AMPS 100 gave .5 units
+2 85
PMPS 111 gave .5 units
+2 93
+4 78
+6 90

Today 3/22
AMPS 100 gave .25 units
+2 98
+4 88
+6 104
+8 131 (he ate about 1.25 oz of FSD at +7 which might explain this at +8)
+10 97
PMPS 119 gave .25 units (about the same as other PS's)
+2 93
+4 80
+6 97

Have a great day
Dwight

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100, +2 98

Thanks Carla.
98 on the +2 so not much movement from the AMPS.

He's been on the same SD Turk & gibs now for over a week so there should be much variation from that aspect.

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88

Okay, so last night I was confident you would see green at AMPS this morning. Apparently, I am not the psychic I thought I was! 100 is still a fantastic number, though.

BTW - I won't tell anyone about your secret team favorite. Jersey is reading condos with me this morning, though, and I can't make any promises about who she might tell! :-D

I hope the reducie works out well!

Work that reducie Boots!

I would say with meter variance, that 100 is definitely a green. So Shelly may be psychic after all :-D
Have a fantastic day!

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88

Thanks Kim and Shelly.
And, that makes three 100's and a 102 in the last 4 AMPS's and with that meter variance......
As Bob Ross always used to say, "This is your world."

Still looking good there Boots!!

Just one thing I'll add, other than WOO HOO!!....these first couple of cycles will still be "influenced" by the .5 dose, so if his numbers start to creep up, we'll want to watch for that so you can get him back up to the .5

Of course there are those of us that would kill for your spreadsheet too ;-)

Thanks Chris.
I'm sure there are and sometimes I feel bad that I'm making it look easy and others have such a difficult go of it.

While I have you here. Can you give me an idea on how I know the reduction is working or when it's not and I will need to rethink it. If it's working, should the numbers still stay in that normal range <120 or can we allow it to be a little higher?
Already his mid cycle numbers are slightly higher than what they were this week so if you think he is still working off his .5's he had all week, how much higher do you think they will go when those .5's work off? Or do we get more work from the pancreas which helps keep his numbers lower. I assume that's how we finally get to zero......the pancreas takes on all of the work. How's my thinking?

Thanks again for your help.

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88,+6 104,+8 131, +10 97

i wouldn't worry about that 131 at all. it's just a blip. we're looking at the overall cycle, and the overall cycle is a winner!

yes, you've got the right idea - as his pancreas heals and begins putting out insulin consistently, the amount you give him is being reduced until he takes it all over and you stop injecting any.

i'd just keep on as you are. If you see numbers over 120 for more than just one blip, ie, at least 1/2 of the cycle, then i'd go back up to your previous dose.

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88,+6 104,+8 131, +10 97

Thanks for the reassurance. I fed at plus +7 so could the 131 be from that at +8?

In an hour I'll get the PM shot in and see where the rest of the night goes.
Thanks for stopping in and helping me out.

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88,+6 104,+10 97 PMPS 119

yes, it could be from that.

one technique that we suggest on a cat whose pancreas is trying to kick into gear is to feed a little bit, just a teaspoon or two, of low carb food about +9. that can stimulate the pancreas and bring down the preshot numbers. otherwise your Lantus is waning about then.

if you have a timed feeder that's a lot less painful in the early morning hours. you can easily give it a try during the day, however, and see if it brings down the pmps.

Re: 3/22 Boots AMPS 100,+2 98,+4 88,+6 104,+10 97 PMPS 119

Anytime you feed, you're adding carbs, so yes, that can raise the BG a little or a lot, depending on how carb sensitive Boots is.

Don't worry....we're watching you! If we think he's failing the reduction, we'll let you know!

Come on pancreas!! Do your stuff!! :-D

That's good to know. Thanks.

I've been feeding the same Friskies SD for every meal so I would think his BG would level based on the same carb level each meal.

I'm glad I've got such a great team behind me. :-D
