I hope Bella surfs safely today and you can catch up on your sleep this weekend. What is the trial at the cat hospital?

It’s a trial going on at 20 vets in US, if he passes the bloodwork then he will be put on some medicine I put in his food, instead of insulin, I figured it can’t hurt to try it and I can pull him out anytime, not charged for anything, if I decide to pull him out of trial, at least he gets the best bloodwork they can do
 
I saw that a while ago. Ollie doesn't qualify because of other existing conditions (acro).

Is there a hospital near you that Is participating?

Interesting! If bloodwork is OK, when would he start ?
 
I'm so tired too. My new thing is waking up 2 hours before my alarm goes off and then not being able to fall back asleep. :facepalm: I hope Bella comes down for you today and surfs safely! Happy Friday Jamie!
 
I sure hope it works out and that Bella is approved to participate! Luci decided that today was the day for running off to the lagoon - from 218 to 82 in two hours - I just don't know what this girl is thinking...but I'm always happy when she's off surfing with the other kids...she just doesn't ever do anything in a 'normal' way...Miss 'I'm in a hurry'...then later she'll fling it to the side and be back in her yellows... who can figure?

That study sounds interesting. Ravan doesn't qualify because of his kidney disease :( I hope it works out well for Bella!

It would make your life a bit easier if you didn't need to get up all the time to check BG :)
I can't wait to hear how he does on the meds!

That study sounds interesting! I have to wonder....whatever drug they are using that replaces the insulin....can it still make the cat's BG go too low? I know giving shots is stressful to some people and some cats but, for me, the stress is not wanting to leave for several hours after the shot in case the BG goes too low.

From what they said, no it cant make it go to.low as it's not insulin, the meds have something to do with the pancreas, I'm gonna find out more today
 
Doing bloodwork and it has to be sent to lab, will get results next week, resume lantus until labs come back
 
Ok blood taken and urine sent out to lab
This is how the med works
It increases the amount of glucose in urine which lowers blood sugar
Theu have 1 other diabetic cat and the cats numbers went to normal in 4 days!!!!!
 
Very interesting study! I hope it works for Bella and lots of kitties. Something that controls BG but won’t let them go too low would be wonderful, especially for those of us who have to leave our kitties alone to go to work.
