I just wanted to share... This is Blossom, Queenie's sister. These kitties were rescued from a colony about 11 years ago. We adopted Blossom as a tiny kitten in the spring. Queenie was trapped the previous winter and has lived with my mother until this dx. Blossom was incredibly sweet, very chatty, a fierce hunter and a kitten at heart. Sadly she disappeared from our farm last April and I think of her every day. Taking care of Queenie brings me much joy for many reasons. She is as sweet as Blossom and petite like she was. They are cut from the same cloth.

Hi Chris,
Blossom is a beauty! I often think of my past pets, of which there are many!

I am "Queenie" to my 2 year old grandson, so I love Queenie's name!

I have a question....you mentioned sliding back the shot time. I want to do that right now. How is that usually done? 15 minutes at a time?
Thanks!!

Thanks Chris, Looks like we are in the same freshman "class" here at the FDMB. My nieces and nephews call my mom Grammie....

@Chris & China gave me this advice a couple days ago

"We suggest 15 minutes per cycle, or one 30 minute change per day
Some cats are very sensitive to small changes, so 15 minutes is as much as we want to do...others can do fine on the 30 minute changes. If you have 3 days to adjust, you'll be OK doing either one

Any early shot can act like an increase though, so you'll just need to watch and see how she does"

I am new here an maybe not the best person to ask, but it does seem to me that Queenie is not swinging so wildly any more and moving the dose feels a little less like it could cause any trouble. I did have a snafu early on and delayed a shot for 4 hours, we recovered, but it was because of the advice I found here. Had I followed the vet's advice blindly she would have had sky high numbers for almost 7 more hours before the next dose. I have found this forum extremely helpful. I too have nursed many and let go of more cats than most people will ever know in their life time. My mom feels bad I am taking this on but she has health issues of her own and there's no way Queenie would get this much attention. I am learning a lot and blessed with a great patient.

Good luck!

Well, all I can say it's it's been a rather uneventful day. Queenie is making me look really good, even though I don't know much about this sugar dance yet. She's made herself a new buddy here at the farm. His name is Wilson and he's really sweet on her. Hope you all have a good night and a not so Manic Monday.

love the pics! i am a quilter so i had to look closely at Blossom's quilt too - she's a beauty (the kitty & the quilt!)

Great surf for Queenie today. Everything under 120 is an opportunity for her pancreas to heal - so this is a perfect day for her!

Just got a green! Queenie seems just fine and was having herself a little snack just now. Will check again in an hour. I'll send another photo along of the whole quilt. It was a gift from my sister. I'm afraid to put it on the bed with all the cats we have sleeping on the bed... It's a real zoo some nights. Think we'd get better rest sleeping on the couch!

hahaha! I think the micro was upside down the last reading and I saw 59 when it was really 65. now at +5.5 I see an 85 and I'm sure it's right side up, and when I scroll through the history there's a 65, not a 59. (surely I didn't get a 15 at +4.5!!) Thanks Wendy & Julie.
