yesterday:
ambg 102
+4 121
+9 107
pmbg 98

last condo

Had to work more hours than usual yesterday so I was barely on.
Shadow seems to be in her previous rhythms/numbers so I don't know what to think.
Dental is still on schedule for next tuesday but my gut tells me that's not it.
But I don't trust my gut right now since the week before a surgery for her I start panicking with worry.
If I could put my overactive imagination in a jar on the shelf.... I would. :YMSIGH: :-D

If I go thru with it, and it's not her teeth.... i'll be beating my head on the wall.

I'm losing so much sleep right now that we might as well be still shooting insulin.

I found a video of her as a youngster that I'm trying to cut and paste so I can share it.
But for now, here's her latest picture.

Prayers for all who need them.

Hi guys .. I'm sorry you are all stressed out over shadow .. I'd be the same way .. I really hope the dental is all she needs to get back to real nice steady numbers .. have a great day guys!

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

Aw...I understand the worry. I have the same kind of imagination...and is it ever-so annoying! I'm sending many calming vines your way!!! Gorgeous picture of Shadow.

Have a great day, Rhiannon!

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

Love those white whiskers on her black cheeks - a beauty! Wishing a calm day for you and some green for Shadow.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

I love that pic! Such a sweet face!!!! ((Rhiannon)) I know how you feel. Sending calming vines your way. Shadow's numbers look great. Who knows...she's a cat! Happy Fursday!!!

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

Beautiful pic, Rhiannon! I'm sure Shadow is just lounging around stress free while you're mind is conjuring up every crazy scenario in the book. I wish I could be more like a cat sometimes. Tuesday is almost here - hang in there! :YMHUG:

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

What a beautiful photo of Shadow! I love her little whine chin, so cute. It took me awhile to figure out how to post youtube videos, and, well, it took Marje, too  When you copy the url from youtube, you take out everything except the letters/numbers that come at the end. ohmygod_smile

I'm sorry that you're losing so much sleep, and paws crossed that the dental brings her back into lower numbers. Sending good vines to Shadow, and peaceful vines to you.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

That's a great picture of Shadow. Sending prayers that everything will go well with her dental on Tuesday.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

Hi Rhiannon,

Shadow is a beautiful kitty. Love that picture! Has your vet looked in her mouth to see if there is anything suspicious? I realize that they often can't tell until they really get right into the teeth and gums, but if there is obvious inflammation there, a vet would see it. If there isn't, maybe you'd be able to hold off on the dental. I can't remember whether or not you have ruled out other things. Has she had recent labs? But then again, her numbers are in the range of "normal" most of the time. Maybe it's just her pattern now.

I hope that you won't spend your weekend worrying. Do something for YOU. Monday is time enough to worry!

Try to enjoy the weekend.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Many thanks for your thoughts in Rusty's condo today.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

Beautiful picture of your gorgeous Shadow

I agree with Ella, save the worry for later.
But then again, I know what you're going through. J.D. had a dental in January.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117 pic

That's the problem.
There is nothing suspicious.

The vet has looked in her mouth a few times.... sees some tartar buildup....but that's it.
Shadow had her fangs removed a year ago... this month ( march).
We knew that needed to happen because one was cracked and broken off.... and Shadow had surgery 6-9 months before that for her infiltrative lipoma.
She was supposed to have the lipoma cut out and a dental at the same time....
The surgeon took x-rays of her mouth and then began on the lipoma and found that is was extremely invasive in the muscle tissue....
He ran out of time to do the dental.... thus she had it last March. He had to take out a lot of muscle trying to get all of the lipoma and it's chances of coming
back were high in the first 2 years.
The lipoma felt like a squishy lump (small marshmallow) and the vet feels her up every time... I try to feel around too... but if one were under the ribcage.... we wouldn't know. Lipoma's scare me hugely because our dog got one and we blinked and then it was cancer.
I believe lipoma's are tied to cancers.... they are a warning and should not be left alone.

So it's been a year on her teeth. (seems like it's too soon) But feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions can do their thing whenever they want....
and you only know there are cracks by the xrays.... (which still involves anesthesia)

Her labs were done on Nov 1, 2012. first senior panel ... I need to figure out how to get that with her ss. She completed her otj trial Oct 31.
Her numbers are pretty normal for her now....

so was our spike there just tied to her anal glands?
and her probable touch of arthritis?

she seems to have migrated from high greens to low blues....
not huge leaps up.. except for a few days...
but i'm not seeing much green....

and the one thing that bothers me.... is she will try to go sleep on the bath mat....
that's what got her tested for FD in the first place.... so I know somethings not right....

this seems to be Shadow's wild ride
roller-coaster.gif

I try to remind myself that this is a cat's life....
dentals require anethesia... and they seem to need too many dentals.... (shadow has done it twice)
and I watch all of you go thru it with older cats....

my vet (the surgeon) has told me the older they get... the more risks from anesthesia... and he considered 12 old...
I'd never heard of a cat making it past 18 before I came here. I'd love to make it there.

my next cat will be taught tooth brushing... but I also won't be so very very attached after I lose Shadow ( many years from now )
I might just rescue some older ones who need a home.

Hi Shadow. Bummer on the elevated numbers but they are still within limits.

Rhiannon. Hang in there. Waiting for surgery is NO fun. Definitely do what you know will be good for your little princess and trust it will all turn out.

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117pmbg 104 pic

Beautiful photo of Shadow. It looks like she is trying to say "you worry too much - I'm a cat". I think it's in the nature of everyone in LL to worry, we all care for our kitties so much and bond with the diabetes care.

If you don't get a dental, you'll worry that you should have. If you do, you'll at least get rid of the tartar and get some peace of mind. I agree with the others, do something for yourself this weekend.

Hi Rhiannon,
I'm sorry you are feeling so stressed. Shadow is a beautiful cat. She's lucky to have you.
Take care,
KJ

Re: 3/21 Shadow ambg 117pmbg 104 pic

once again... went to bed... shadow left...
this time she went and hid...
she's done that twice this week...
something seems to hurt... getting bit and clawed a bit.
i'm trying to feel her up. :o

instead of her elbows.. i'm thinking front shoulder... like clavicle area... ( don't know cat anatomy... going to go look)

guess i'm callng the vet tomorrow...
fits with her sulkiness...
i think she looks sulky in the pic....

Sorry to hear this. Hope the vet can figure it out and that Shadow starts to feel better soon. Hang in there. I'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow.

(((Rhiannon & Shadow))))
