I am having trouble with my mouse here i think...something is going on...I hit 'submit" and it doesn't submit right away. So, The PMPS post I wrote last night is gone...floating out there in cyber space. :sad: I hate when that happens. But I did write it and proceeded to loose it.

This morning Shadow was right there on the testing towel for the ear prick and was happy to eat his breffis all up. There were nicely formed poops in the LB late last night and all seems good around here. I went out to Walmart with my trusty list of foods to buy and now have an array of low-carb things to offer them. I am concerned about feeding only one brand and although the change in brands can have negative results if it doesn't agree with them. I am giving them more options just the same. So far, all is ok. I fed them Special Kitty Turkey & Giblets dinner with 3 carbs. Cowboy cookout by Merrick yesterday...I am trying to get the fat content low too.
Maybe I am bored??? Well, there is always something to think about and something to try. Raja's cholesterol was high and I had been feeding them Wellness for days before the blood test. I am also giving them Omega 3 oils as well as the dried chicken flakes on top of the servings. Patty's Gourmet Cafe right here ...we deliver...bedroom or living room...gratuities included.
I was amazed that many of the brands and varieties that I had on my list were not available in Walmart. There were no Sepcial Diet cans of Friskies...it just seemed to me that if you didn't know what you were looking for, you could easily buy something off the shelf that his very high in carbs...that seems to be the choices that were there. Except for the FF...they have low carb available in that brand.

I am very upset at Shadow's numbers last night and especially this morning. If this continues, there will be a dosecrease back to 1.25u soon. Any thoughts? He seems fine otherwise.
A gray rainy day here in my part of Florida. It's nice for a change. yesterday was sunny and gorgeous. Hope you all have a great Sunday!!!

I know what you mean -- even our Petco store doesnt have much that is on Binky's list. I really hate to stockpile any canned food, becuz my clan seems to get bored easily ... and then I end up having to go back to the store and buy more anyhow becuz they don't want what I have. Therefore, I end up hitting about 3 other store BESIDES WalMart -- so we have a whole smorgasbord of items on hand. Even Dollar General, EconoFoods, Fareway and HyVee stock a few of the odd balls nobody else does. I wish I could just purchase one huge Low Carb Variety Pack -- 1 can of everything on Binky's list . . . .and from ONE store :lol:

Eeewww! That is a pretty UGLY AMPS! There is something going on but I hope it's just temporary a few days ago he had some pretty nice numbers. There are so many things that could be going on. Give him a few cycles to see if he comes back around. Maybe he just thought his spreadsheet needed some color :mrgreen: Try adding a color rule for <50, something really pretty and see if maybe he would rather add that one to the mix :lol:

Sounds like the weather here, yesterday was perfect and today it's grey and wet, at least it should wash the fertalizer into the lawn that I spread yesterday so that's the only plus I can think of.

Ouch! Shadow, I hope that's just your idea of a practical joke.

I try to keep the fat content low (roughly equal to the protein % by calories) to more closely mimic the profile of a mouse as supper. That makes it so hard.

When I was looking for your PMPS post in cyber space last night, I found Shadows ss! I was looking from the beginning to now, and thought: "WOW! This is a cat that's going places - GOOD places" :mrgreen: Its really hard to see the whole picture when you are their bean. I know this. But from an outsiders take, even with todays numbers, there is HUGE improvement overall. This is all due to your hard work and love for Shadow.

Sounds like today is a good day to clean rugs? :lol: Ah heck! Skip it! Just hang out with the kitties and a cup o tea, or something.

PS- try a petsmart, petco, or specialty pet store for foods. Walmart is definately limited. Speaking of...today is cat food run day over here!

We also have gray weather here. I so dislike gloomy Sunday's but gloomy Mondays
are worse. :-D
Also not the happiest of AM numbers for Shadow either, to add to the gloom
I do hope he comes down from there really soon though and just a "blip" to keep
the excitement going.

I have to say thank goodness my 3 kitties eat FF, even the new labels since Montreal
has even a worse selection then the states. Too bad though our variety is veyr limited since
none of the beef flavours make it across the border and they all seem to like them. I so like
to switch the flavours but all we can get here is the chicken, turkey giblets, chicken/liver and all the fish ones which I do not like to give.

Hope the food tasting goes well and they have a good impact on Shadow's numbers.

Sending Shadow positive vibes today so he can clear up his funky numbers. Maybe he is testing out his April Fools joke a little early? Do Raja and Shadow throw an April Fools party?

Re: food...I feel your frustration. I am lucky that Six eats anything I put in front of him, but that's not true of my civies. Moving to mostly wet with the civies has been a struggle because I try to keep them on all the same food as Six, but they turn up their nose at something they liked the day before. I have just recently had luck finding different LC Friskies at the store and have restored to feeding a 2/3 Friskies and 1/3 Wellness because everyone stopped eating the Wellness. I go to so many different stores with my lists, but never seem to find much of what's on the list. Grrrr... I wish you luck finding food that works.

I know what you mean Donna...I have been going to Petsmart too but Walmart is cheaper for the ones that we like from FF. Just thought, since i was there already, I would check out the other brands. If people don't know about the food chart, they are forced to make their selection from the brands that are available....They make all sorts of nasty stuff for humans too...make it cheap and available and it you don't really study nutrition, you will be on the road to sickness in the end. One really has to study things and compare and make good choices....

It is raining here today...thunder too!! And to my surprise, Shadow is not in the closet! He was hanging out near me but I was noticing that he isn't hiding like he used to. He has BOS all of a sudden. :lol: Between his curiosity with my DD's drooler and now with his bravery while thunder is going on, I am pleased that he is doing so well.

Fortunately our pet food store (which is also a laundromat!) carries 2 flavors of EVO (a concern when we moved up here from NY City, where you can get everything). But no cat treats (only dog treats, and only the "bone" types). I'm going to make an excursion to the nearest "big city" (Plattsburgh) this week because I learned that there is a Petsmart there (and there is also a Walmart, so I can stock up on test strips). I was making a chicken dish for a potluck supper this evening and boiled up a little piece of chicken for Stu to give him as treats. Wow! He devoured it! Now I can see that he will be looking for home-cooked chicken from here on! (DH and I eat mostly vegetarian, so we rarely have chicken in the house.) Good luck with your food quest!

Nasty amps, but looks like he is coming down for you. I hope the trend continues and shadow finds his inner green self...Hopefully this red is just a fluke...you know, Spot gets them too!!
Have a great day...hope the weather changes and you gets some nice weather. As far as food...The "By Nature Organics" from Petsmart is what Spot is eating. He seems to like it a lot. The last time I went to Tim Burton's total pet, I got some "Instinct", the girl at the counter said that it was the best selling for diabetics, however, after I fed it to Spot, it seemed like his bg's raised. Don't know if it was the food or if it was one of those "flukes" we talk about. He also likes the Sophisticat, Petsmart's brand of cat food. Actually Spot likes anything...just put it in front of him and he'll eat it, lol

Seems like it's everyone day to stock up on cat food. Venitia has a post in supply closet that there is free shipping code from PetFoodDirect this weekend only. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=9515&p=96781#p96781 I haven't tried it yet to see if it works. I'd just decided that the shipping cost made it just about as expensive as local stores, now we have to reevaluate.

Deb, glad to hear that the By Nature Organics are working. I bought some to try, but couldn't find any carb info on them. Do you have any other info? The Ingredients look good.

Hi Pat and Shadow! Keep on comin' down, Shadow. You're so brave with droolers and thunder, AND you're the life of any party. Sounds like a great catch to me, but usually chicks don't like the high BGs.

Pat, I know what you mean about Walmart not having much selection. I don't even look there anymore because I am always disappointed. By the time I stand in line to buy test strips, I am always so mad anyway that I can hardly stand to walk around and look for food. ;)

Ann, if you join PetFoodDirect's e-mail club, they e-mail you coupon codes constantly. And when I say constantly, I mean a couple of times a week. Sometimes it's free shipping, or 15% off your order, stuff like that. It really makes it much more affordable and the convenience of having cat food delivered to your door really can't be overstated. :)
