Thanks for the good wishes everyone!! We are off to the vet in about 1.5 hours (9 a.m.). My vet emailed me at around 10 last night to let me know he made room in his schedule to see Champ at 9 this morning. I really love this vet!! I'm going to have him take a good look at Champ's mouth just to make sure there's nothing going on there that he can see with the naked eye. Sienne, Marje, and Amy all mentioned a kidney infection yesterday, and the vet we saw on Tuesday also mentioned this when she called with the test results yesterday. I'll be very interested to see what my regular vet says today....bet that's what it will end up being. I always assumed that if there was a kidney infection that you would notice something with urination...that the cat would have difficulty or pain with urination, or that a UTI would have to have been present at some point. Champ's urinalysis showed no bacteria, though there is protein, WBCs, and RBCs. His kidney values are all very good. I just wished I could get Champ to understand how important it is for him to learn English so he can tell me where it hurts!! Silly kitters!! Regardless, I trust my vet implicitly so whatever he says he thinks it is, I'm going with that!! Thanks to Ann, I now have a source to buy Orbax at a very good price. If it is a kidney infection, he will have to be on an antibiotic for 4-6 weeks so knowing I can get it cheaper online lightens my load!! I'll post again once I get back from the vet!! Keep us in your thoughts!!
In case anyone would like to know, I talked to Lauren (Tommy) yesterday and it looks like Tommy's time is very limited. She was having to make the choice of whether to let him go or give him another week to improve. He's developed severe anemia on top of all his other problems, including being 20 years old, and he's just not doing well at all. She's really devastated. If you could say a prayer for her and Tommy, that would be wonderful. I know she would appreciate it.
