Happy Caturday to all cats and beans!

Stu had a great day yesterday surfing in blue. Maybe we'll get a repeat performance. It's easy to tell that he's feeling healthy again: his door-pounding is picking up. Last night he "played" with us beginning around 3 A.M. by pounding on the doors every 15 minutes or so. Just like the old days!!! We let him in, he pounds to go out. We let him out, he pounds to come in. Leaving the door open isn't an option: he simply goes over and pounds on the door to the porch, or he rattles the handles on the chest. When he doesn't get a "reply" from us, he slurps to make us think he is about to vomit!!! What a great cat!!!!! All 5 Ps are in order this morning. Another great thing is that Stu is no longer drinking and peeing as heavily as he used to. We are thrilled at his progress and want to thank all of you for helping us. Stu has decided that he's tired of EVO venison, but he still likes the turkey & chicken. The selection of cat foods and treats is very limited here, but I just learned that there is a Petsmart in Plattsburgh, so I might make a trip up there in the next few days.
Spring is still here, but apparently winter is going to return tomorrow, despite the fact that today is the Vernal Equinox. A good sign of spring is that a migrating flock of Canada geese flew overhead yesterday. Soon there will be flock after flock--a great sight (and sound)!

Morning ella....is Stu going over to Spot's today? Raja & Shadow will meet him there.
BTW, have you ever tried Prime bits freeze-dried chicken? they sell it for dogs at petsmart...I shave it over their food.

Although on second thought, if you don't have a store near you it might be a sad thing to begin giving it to him. My two stare at the naked food and just sit when I have neglected to shave the chicken on top. They put on their very sad faces and just sit looking down at the food. Pathetic. They do love it so....maybe it isn't a good idea to even begin it with Stu.
maybe it can be mailed though....

I am definitely going to try Prime Bits. I've only been to Plattsburgh once, and they even have a Walmart there, so I'll be able to get strips for the Relion meter without having to order online. I might even go today or tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion, Pat. Yes, Stu most certainlty is planning to attend Spotty's party and hopes it will be soon.

Seriously, I love the sound and sight of the geese as well. But what they leave behind (especially if you work outside and have to constantly walk in it), is not so pleasant.

I still want to see a video of this Stu fella, pounding. I envision this cartoon-like cat. Please, oh please video tape for us! :mrgreen:

Stu has definately seen some progress. Keep it up good guy!

A huge drop to 57. So much for a nice, peaceful blue surf! I gave him a teaspoon of MC to try to keep him from dropping too much further before nadir time. Was it OK to do this?

It took me a second to realize that Carolyn was talking about goose poop -- not kitties' pooping on the ground!! (lol!)

I would have fed LC and retested at +3.5 rather than feed MC. You want to see if Stu is looking for a decrease - which I suspect he's been working up to from the way his SS looks. Just be attentive and see where his numbers are at +3.5 even with the MC.

ABSOLUTELY!! MC will keep Stu up without a giant bounce--I use it for Moonie, & you can see she hasnt had giant bounces--You can also mix mc with lc & that works too, without high bounces.
Looks like Stu likes this dose!! Maybe a dose crease is in his future.... Great numbers--Keep watching him--Lather rinse repeat!

I'm glad to hear someone else worries about the drop into the 50's. I thought I was being a nervous newbie.
I'll be looking later to see what you do, if he drops lower. ;-)

56 at +3.75 after the teaspoon of FF Medleys Chicken Florentine. Virtually the same number. I'll test again in an hour. He is feeling good and has lots of energy. He just wanted Fancy Feast!

Stu....what are you doing sir? That is a really big drop!
Ella, you did good giving him the mc food if that is what you felt comfortable doing.
I used the lc for Spot when he got into the 50's...they say feed the fifty's! I only used the mc if he got to the 40's.- but that was only after I learned which carbs worked the best for him at which numbers. In my hypo kit I had several cans of med and high carb foods to use depending on which number.

oh, btw, I had to read your first post to my mom and we were both cracking up here. That Stu is a card, isn't he!! This morning civvie Ralph sat outside grammiebeans door and cried for an hour or more...these sad little meows...but mom doesn't crack to easily, lol, he didn't get in until she got up.

Wow. +5: 35! I gave him a little hc. He usually eats lunch about now. Shall I mix in some hc or mc with his lc? I guess my plans for the day are put on hold!! Thanks for watching!

When numbers are below 35, HC is in order. If you want to give him a little of MC/LC just for some substance, that's fine but gravy is in order.

Unless Stu bounces to the moon, yes, a decrease to 2.5 is earned. Congrats.

Oh, thank you, Sienne! He was so hungry! I gave him gravy and, for substance, a teaspoon of his usual EVO turkey & chicken mixed with a teaspoon of FF Chicken Florentine. I didn't want to give too much food, because I suspect I'll be dishing out quite a bit in small increments this afternoon. I'll test again at +5.5 (in 10 minutes). Hooray for a dosecrease tonight! 2.5 units will be much easier to measure!

Congrats Stu on the doscrease! Sounds like you are having a morning like I have been having lately! Isn't it fun? Glad Scrabble decided to give me "a day off" today and let me get some sleep but I am sure it will be short lived since these kitties are always so full of surprises! Hope the rest of your day goes well!!!

Up to 61 at +5.75. Fed him some MC/LC mix (2 teaspoons total) and will test again at +6.5

When Stu's numbers are running low, can you edit your first condo of the day to include his numbers? If we're scanning, it's a way to see where his numbers are as you keep getting data. Obviously if you need help, say so.

You're handling Stu's numbers like a pro!

nice job, Ella. I would probably check again an hour or so after that test just to be sure he's staying up there, but that's because I like to know everything. :mrgreen:

66 at +6.75. I think we're beyond his nadir time now. I will get another test in about an hour, Libby. Here's hoping he'll just surf for the rest of the afternoon. I have to go to the store in an hour, but DH will keep his eye on him. The prospect of another dose reduction is fantastic.

P.s. to Roni: Stu doesn't pound with his head!! (You're thinking of woodpeckers!) He pounds with his front legs (arms) while sitting on his hind legs in front of the door. He's very strong. You should see his shoulders! I'd like to get a video, but we don't have a video camera (and if we did, I doubt that we'd want to get up in the middle of the night to cover the event).
