Stella's Condo

Good morning all!

Thanks for dropping in this morning. :) Stella is doing great. Her poops are a bit on the 'dry' side. I am wondering why. Despite her wonder food she is starting to get that constipated look again. Hmmm...

We just spoke to the vet on the phone. I had called to get the results of her urine sample. He was suprised by Stella's results and called her an anomoly. I wish I could give all the specifics as to why...but most of it was 'over my head'. He said she did have a high glucose and protein, but her kidneys seemed to be processing things well with no blood. He did suggest I take her to see a specialist to get an ultrasound on the kidneys to do preventative. I wish I could remember exactly why...and then he said I didn't have to do it immediately. Then he said he definitely wanted me to bring Stella back in to get her pressures checked to rule out something. We are going in on Saturday to get the pressure checked. Sorry I am not more specific, but since I don't have the results in front of me on a piece of paper it is difficult to convey it to you on here.

I was just about to post this and then I remember Stella already had an ultrasound on her kidneys about a year ago. Could anything change that fast?

Does anyone know of anything specific I should be asking or looking for in her urine sample?

Have a great day!

Sorry I can't help on the medical issues. It would be good to get a copy of the report when you go in for the BP test. I'm sure folks around here could help more with the results on hand. A preventive ultrasound? After you had one last year? I don't understand that - especially since they can be expensive. I hope everything turns out to be nothing.

Have a great day!

Re: 3/20 Stella AMPS/279

Yes Lisa & Leo, it is an 'expensive' preventative. I know Stella had one in the past year, so I just emailed our CA vet and asked them to forward Stella's results to my current vet so I wouldn't have to undergo that expense again! I then called my current vet and asked the front desk to look in Stella's records to see if she can find the results. I am starting to wonder about my current (new vet's) support staff. Without making her feel bad, I told her to look again and gave her the number of my old vet so she could get the info she needed. I didn't think of all of this until I hung up the phone after discussing the urine test results. I must have had a 'delayed' reaction to recieving the information. I do recall quite vividly looking at a huge picture of Stella's insides and my former vet saying there was absolutely nothing wrong with Stella's kidney's despite her neuropathy at the time. (Stella is recovered from the neuropathy)

Stella is an amazing animal. I just want to give her the longest life on earth possible with me. I just can't afford vet's who make me run tests she doesn't need. The hardest part in all of this is sorting through what Stella really needs.

Re: 3/20 Stella AMPS/279

It sounds like overall Stella's report was good. If you just had an ultrasound a year ago, I don't know why you would need another one unless she's having serious problems. I hate not knowing if I need to get an expensive test done for my kitties. I hope you don't have to have the test done.

Happy first day of Spring.

Re: 3/20 Stella AMPS/279

Yeah Catfurby, I think this is just a case of

1. The new vet didn't get the proper support from the front desk in reading Stella's charts and seeing she already had an ultrasound.
2. The old vet not putting in the information to forward to the new vet.
3. My not 'remembering' it when the vet was telling me all of the info that was 'over my head'.

I do now remmeber vividly the photo and the old vet telling me Stella's kidneys were great, so I see no need to pursue another ultra sound.

Also, Stella is no longer constipated. She just left me lots of presents. hahaha...and it is not 'dry' at all. Hmmm... wonder what was going on?
