AMPS have crept up but last night was the first greens since his reduction so it was nice to see those, and good solid greens not those 90s he used to stick in if he went there :D I was starting to think he was back into his blue funk.

Yesterday was pretty horrible but Vyktor is doing noticeably better this morning. I slept on the floor with him again last night and he was going quite crazy for loves in the early hour,s but he was forgetting his pains and going for cheek rubs - ouch! He has gotten up for food a few times by himself but is still mouthing, pawing at his face and hiding in the cupboard when he eats, but with less crying out/growling.

Thank you for your suggestions, thoughts and vines yesterday. It seems that this faucitis business is going to be as much of a bugger as I thought. The stem cell treatment that Ann and Tess are looking into for Emma seems to show the most promise but I don't know if Australia's there yet, will discuss with the vet. I will also be checking if we have the anti-inflammatory that Wendy and Neko are trialling (duralactin/microlactin) and seeing if we have the antirobe aquadrops as an AB option. I was researching natural options yesterday and unfortunately it doesn't look like there's been much success in this area - as also indicated by Ann and Tess' list of tried and failed. I guess I will still check with the vet naturopath and/or homeopath though - hopefully I won't have to take Vyktor with me! The great thing about Vyktor's vet is that he is open to suggestions and they are quite cutting edge for Western Australia so I think he'll be willing to look into options with me. I also want to check with him if the ligaments were removed with the teeth as they went over the years (not sure if that's standard) because it seems that is necessary for this disease. Meantime I think I should open a compounding pharmacy here!

Serryn, giant, outback size hugs for you and your Vyktor-boy. No knowledge or advice from me, just hugs and vines and ever so much light.

Atta Boy Purrdy, slide on down!!:cool:

:oops:It's so frustrating, all we can offer is hugs, prayers and healing vines--truckloads of healing vines! :bighug: So, I'm grasping at straws here(cuz that's what I do best ), but have you ever heard of this vet? Dr RichardMalik, BVSc FACVSc PhD? He's probably a million miles away from where you are no doubt... Then I found this link, it is written by a number of different vets and which lists some additional treatments, slightly different than already mentioned: http://www.ava.com.au/sites/default/files/AVA_website/pdfs/AIDAP prescribing guidelines.pdf. I am really liking how your vet is open to ideas, he sounds like a keeper. We will be continuing to pray for Vyktor, that something can be done to help him.:bighug::bighug:

Off topic: Yesterday, you mentioned how spoiled we in North America might be with obtaining medications, but in reality, it is only due to the fact that Big Pharma got it's start here in the US, it's good in cases like being able to have access to medications but I hate the idea of why it is this way.

Hi Serryn,
Purrdy is looking good. How's your mum doing with the routine?

More vines for Vyktor and hopefully help will be on the way with regard to what meds will work on his condition. Would it help to feed him meat baby food until the inflammation subsides? I don't know what kinds you have in Australia, but look for something with just meat and broth (no onions or garlic in the broth). We have used Beech Nut Stage 1 Turkey or Chicken.

Have a good day/evening/whatever.

I just got caught up on poor Vyktor. Sorry that I have nothing to add but vines, prayers and lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:. I would caution on the use of metacam. It has a black box warning for cats as it can permanently damage their kidneys.

Way to go on the greens last night Purrdy!

just used Google on Compounding Pharmacy Perth, found Guardian Pharmacy and Main Street Pharmacy that does pet medicines. McKenzies advertises sugar free meds for diabetic animals. Looks like there are a few of them. There is also an on line compounding option. Thinking of you guys. Scritches to Vyktor.
